Philadelphia, Pa. – Samme Givens scored a season-high 16 points off the bench as Drexel opened the Colonial Athletic Association season with a 49-47 win against Northeastern at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. The Huskies had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds, but Matt Janning’s jumper came up short.

The Dragons held the lead for virtually the entire second half, but could not put the Huskies away. The lead got to as big as six points with 9:15 to play when freshman Derrick Thomas scored on a fast break lay-up. Northeastern answered with four straight free throws and the game remained close the rest of the game.
