Can we now put this subject to bed. Far too many western fans have been made to look foolish over the rumor and the credibility of anything posted about their own school will not be believed for a long time.
Article in the BGDaily News (since they don't archive the stories - I'm putting the article here:

Western Kentucky Athletics Director Wood Selig recently returned to Bowling Green after visiting his family for a week, but lingering rumors of the Hilltoppers changing conferences never departed.
The latest rumor began when a Lexington radio station reported Western football would become a I-A football program and join the Mid-American Conference in all sports.
Selig says those rumors are baseless.
“Western Kentucky is not involved in any conference discussions with the MAC,

Where's convoy now and his stupid rumor? Where is the radio guy who confirmed his own story that broke, while no one else seemed to be able to confirm it? Man, some of those HillBilly Havenites must feel like idiots now.

I think the timing was perfect. He knew the rumors were going on just as much as UNT's president knew that people were already counting on the Mean Green to leave for the WAC.
They purposely waited until UTEP accepted the CUSA invitation knowing what that would mean the Sun Belt presidents wasted no time in making a public vow of solidarity!
Their timing was planned. And I think it worked out great. Western Kentucky's Gary Ransdell made it clear, but even after the statement was made people still insisted that the Hilltoppers would leave for the MAC. That is why I believe Wood Selig came out today with his statement that those rumors were not true.
No doubt, the Sun Belt will stay together.

If I were those Hillbilly Havenites I'd be emailing this Tirey person who supposedly started that junk asking him what he thinks of Gary Ransdell's public affirmation to the Sun Belt and Wood Selig's public statement that the Lexington radio station is full of sh!t!!
That dude owes Western Kentucky fans an apology!

I know this will get ripped apart here, but maybe Tirey really had a source that told him that? Tirey did play football at WKU if I am not mistaken so he could very well of had a source.
Also, TCU told C-USA they were staying shortly before accepting a bid to the MWC. BC told the Big East they would stay and even were on the lawsuit against Miami before they were invited to the ACC. At that time BC accepted and dropped their name from the lawsuit against Miami.

No offense, but I guess I just don't always trust what is said by people in positions of power. I've seen them say one thing and do something else way too many times in the past. It's kind of like when one company buys another. A lot of the time the management of the new company says there won't be any layoffs and the bought company will run like it always ran. Then a few months down the road everyone in the company that was bought gets their pink slips.
The decisions makers are always going to be faced with having to say things that are "politically correct." I mean who here honestly doesn't think that Wright Waters has been pushing for a solidarity statement thinking this MIGHT keep schools from jumping ship?
Are the presidents full of BS with their solidarity statement? Who knows? Maybe they do all really mean it for now. Maybe something will happen that will change their views...maybe it won't. Basically, it all boils down to we call all speculate all we want to, but only time is really going to tell how all of this shakes.
I for one will be enjoying my Hilltopper sports no matter what conference(s) we play in, and I'm sure all you other fans out there feel exactly the same way about your respective teams.

I would put more faith in what WKU fans had to say, if they didn't post this garbage every few months about going to various conferences. :bang: WKU was a big fish in a little pond in basketball and they can't stand it that they have ULL and MT to contend with now. They also can't stand it that they aren't getting any attention as far as confernece realignement goes.
WKU FANS! DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT...THE SUNBELT IS A GOOD CONFERENCE!!! If we stick together we will soon be on the same level as the WAC and MAC IMO...O.k, by "soon" I'm talking about 5-7 years, but still, it won't be long until we have that second bowl game and get a running start towards credibilty.
BTW La. Tech fans...Welcome to the Sunbelt Conference.

Great post BlueRaiderFn1, I think people are too worried about being in the SBC and wanting to jump ship. If another invite comes from a conference, then fine take it and be happy. Otherwises just give it a rest on the rumors and wait and see what happens. Don't panic if your team doesn't get an invite into the conference you want them to get into.

After this debacle, I don't blame you.
WKU was a big fish in a little pond in basketball and they can't stand it that they have ULL and MT to contend with now.
Not true. I am very pleased with the progress of MTSU and LA Laffayette. We need about three more teams to step it up. Quality competition = excitement, good rivalries, higher RPI = multiple bids and higher seeds.
They also can't stand it that they aren't getting any attention as far as confernece realignement goes.
Look Jim Tirey stated on his radio show that we were moving. Personally I think it would have been good for WKU. I only want what is good for WKU.

It should not be long before we are equal to the WAC, CUSA we will surpass when the Big East takes their best teams and leaves the likes of SMU and Rice, then we close in on the MAC.
It will all depend on haning together, proper scheduling, good recruiting, good coaching, and FAN SUPPORT.

You have a long way to go, especially to catch the MAC.
I understand Sun Belt football hasn't been around for a long time or anything, but you have to start winning some OOC games first before you can even think about it.

With the teams playing more conference games, means better records for the teams in the SBC. That means better players coming in, which will = better talent and that will help us compete with the OOC teams that we play.

Yo cretin, your board is here------> <a href='http://http://www.ncaabbs.com/forums/confusa/invision/' target='_blank'>CUSA Where no one listens to you either</a>
Ahh, after seeing that moronic post made by him at least 100 times, it is refreshing that he gets it thrown back at him just once.
I am done now, no more stupid post like this I promise, I want to encourage intelligent exchanges on the 'Belt board.
