Ok, I'm going to give this a try.
Way back in yesteryear, there used to be a forum called "Television without Pity" (TWoP).
They would do episode recaps and reviews of whatever was on TV at the time. Apparently that's where the modern usage of "snarky", for comments, was born.
Anyway, this game was played there to determine favorite characters, favorite episodes, etc.
I thought it might be fun, (while we're waiting to find out about what's going on with the PAC deal) to do something like that here.
Quoting the "rules" from a LOST thread at TWoP:
Quote:All the characters start with 15 points. To play, you have to cast a vote to give a character either two more (++) or two fewer (--) points. Posters can only cast their votes once each calendar day (not 24 hours between), and only three votes at a time. (In other words, you can vote at both 11:59 and 12:01, but that's it for those two days.) When a character has 0 points left, he or she is eliminated. Once half of the total characters are eliminated, characters will only be allowed to receive only one point per vote (1+), but they can still be deducted two points (--), just so that the game doesn't go on forever. Also:
* You cannot vote for or against one person more than once in a day by giving all three of your votes to that person. You must add or subtract points from three different people.
* Post the updated standings with your vote as things go along, based on what the people above you have voted.
Essentially, just copy the post above yours and adjust the values appropriately.
In our case, a "character" is a current or former AAU school.
I'm listing everyone in FBS - even those in the SEC.
That gave a total of 23. So I added the perennial forum theory Notre Dame to give us an even number for 24. (And because I think it'll be fun : )
If you don't think a school should be joining the Big10, vote 'em down : )
We're culling these down to the Final Four : )
One last thing - and this is where the "snark" comes in.
If - due to you voting them down - a school's number goes to zero (or less) then you can make up a funny fictional "event" that disqualified them from the invite. ("The school's botany students sowed smelly onions that year, and the folks at Chicago HQ took umbrage to that and declined them..." - I would bet you all can come up with something much more snarkily creative : )
But please, this is for fun and to be funny, so let's not target any specific people, when telling the snarky story.

Well, originally, I was just going to do the PAC schools. But these things are usually around 24, so I thought it was convenient that the numbers worked out so well for this.
To "add them all" we would only missing the 16 already in (or soon to be in) the Big10.
Plus, if we add more, it'll make the game longer.
Anyway, with so much focus lately on what 4 schools might get a Big10 invite, I thought it might be fun for us to make a game of it - to see what we all might come up with as the "last 4 standing"
This could be each person's chance to vote up their preferences and to vote down the ones they don't want to see in the Big10.
A little bit of fun to pass the time waiting for the next realignment shoe to drop.

Ok, I had started the values at 15 because I thought there would be more participation, but c'est la vie : )
I'm going to subtract 5 from all the schools to speed things up a bit. This doesn't count as my individual vote for today, obviously.
And as another way to speed things along, this game also used to have a rule that you couldn't raise a number higher than 25 - I had forgotten about that - it helps prevent from just adding to the same ones and nothing ever gets removed lol. Since I've subtracted 5, that makes the max value for a school in this game to be 20.
And finally, after I said I was going to add Notre Dame for 24, apparently I left it off lol. I won't add them at this point though, since the game's started. Rounded down, "half" of the schools then, would be 11. But let's start the single moves at 10 - an even number, and again, to speed things up.
