Looking for starter minutes I'm sure. A&T would make a lot of sense.

It would make a ton of sense, but that’s not a player I want to see in the conference on the other side of the court. IMO, he would torch us for big numbers. Not that we can help that now. I just hope he doesn’t go to a conference foe, especially not one in the imaginary south division.

I can seeing this being extra motivation to go to A&T; a chance to torch the coach that tolerated him, but didn't appreciate him.

I hope he goes where he gets to play and is an adult about it. I can't imagine being that juvenile about such an important decision and again I think he will have offers . Harvey is another guy that has upside and wish him the best . This may not be the end of it for UNCW .

I think 1-2 more enter the portal. Not based on any inside info, just gut feeling and trends over the portal era.

I don't think it's juvenile at all. A&T is home and where is mom played college basketball. It's the same conference and they are a team with young talent. He likely can step in and start...beating Siddle is ancillary motivation. Every year there are guys from smaller schools that go off against the team they grew up rooting for.

In the free agency/NIL era, these things are to be expected. I like both of those players, and am proud of the way the team played this season and how they finished in the CAA tournament. But truth be told, if everyone (save Enoh) had come back I think we would have a squad that didn't have the right combination of pieces to get to the level that the program wants to be at.

So turnover is an opportunity to get some missing pieces on the squad. I for one think we lacked enough scorers/lights out shooters, our guard lineup was somewhat undersized, and could use more size.

Other ideas?

I don’t think it is either. A&T’s ties with his mother, the death of his father, and being close with family could all point him there. That and it being a spot he could start quickly and produce well are all plus for him. I wish him the best. I wish whatever happened between him and the staff hadn’t happened. He’s going to be a loss we’ll regret.

Hodge had size as a guard. When Ross got hurt, Siddle still refused to play him much. Similar to how he sat JT all last season. Let’s hope we’re not watching the same show play out with Hodge.

We obviously are going to be on the hunt for a legit PG replacement. Unless Siddle wants to ride or die with Newby. Which seems crazy to me, but I’m not the coach. That and we need bigger forwards to complement our guards to spread the floor. I don’t like this “system” of four guards on the court all trying to create their own shots and not moving without the ball. It’s stagnant. So going for a legit F would be nice too, I just don’t know if that will happen.

Losing JT seems like a kick in the guts.

During that end-of-of season stretch where our record was so-so at best and wins against top-tier opponents were non existent, one of the problems was not having players who seemed to want to "be the man" . Thomas was a guy who wanted the ball and to take it to the hole. His leaving is a loss for sure.

Thomas and Harvey would probably be a best fit on Southern Conference upper level team. I appreciate all they did for Seahawks but the void they are leaving is exactly where we needed an upgrade.

Wait. What? I’m very curious on where you think JT’s game was lacking? Harvey, absolutely, and in my opinion the better replacement is and was already on the team picking splinters.

I chose not to post my observations of Thomas and not to be negative but it is not sour grapes about him leaving.

I agree 100% ,Thomas leaving is a big loss and he should have played a lot more this year and last year.

Not surprised. He was incredibly efficient down low but guards struggled to set him up or look for him on a consistent basis. I sensed his frustration.

No surprise that it’s a struggle to keep bigs in an offensive “system” that focuses and prioritizes ISO play by the guards. Puts the bugs in a bad spot EVERY time.

I hate everything about the ISO basketball offensive "philosophy".

1000%, i don't like it period, but ESPCIALLY when you don't have a roster full of McDonalds all Americans. Simms masked how bad of a strategy it was, and it was exposed multiple times last year.
