Waiting with bated breath...03-melodramatic

RE: 2023 Big12 Football schedule release Tuesday 2PM EST - BearcatMan - 01-31-2023 07:32 AM

TCU released a schedule early on their own website, if it is to be believed, we won't be playing the Horned Frogs this year.

Seems like there was no last minute deal with the sec for TX and Ou to leave this year

I don't believe that was ever on the table. I believe the question was 2024 and they were waiting to see if they were planning for 2 years or if this is the only lame duck year.

I'm looking forward to the schedule release too and planning an inaugural Big 12 road trip to one of our new conference foes (not Orlando or Houston). Do we feel more kickoff times will be known in advance given the media agreements this conference has?

Doesn't look like we'll be playing Oklahoma either per a Tweet from Greg Swaim. That's 2 of 4 we won't play. Hopefully, Houston is one of the others. Texas in Nippert?

RE: 2023 Big12 Football schedule release Tuesday 2PM EST - cincybb51 - 01-31-2023 08:52 AM

It appears that BYU and Houston will play Oklahoma and TCU next year. So I guess we will play Texas hopefully in Nippert.

Yeah, I seriously doubt that Texas, even with one foot out the door, is going to agree to come here to play.

RE: 2023 Big12 Football schedule release Tuesday 2PM EST - shocknawe - 01-31-2023 09:11 AM

The Longhorns in Nippert would have to be the most high profile team ever to visit what Brett Musberger called “the Wrigley Field of college football”

Why not? They play at Kansas and their stadium is practically the same size

Has nothing to do with the size of the stadium.

From what I understand of the B12 Texas pretty much calls their own shots and I just don't see them agreeing to play a fairly distant road game against one of the newbies.

They're too good for that.

I believe Texas USED to call the shots. They are a lame duck now.

RE: 2023 Big12 Football schedule release Tuesday 2PM EST - rath v2.0 - 01-31-2023 09:34 AM

Wouldn't surprise me to play either Texas or Oklahoma on the road. Sounds like it's Texas. We won't have both on the schedule.

A Texas road game will be a good recruiting tool in the Lonestar State.

Exactly; they have zero incentive to satisfy Texas' wants anymore.

This quote is from an article by Dennis Dodd posted in another thread. I wonder if it factored into negotiations. Sounds like it may have. I guess we'll find out.

Quote:Speculation has raged that Texas and Oklahoma have no desire to play the four new Big 12 members, though they have already committed to remain in the league for the upcoming season. The conference is in the process of finalizing a schedule for all 14 programs.

OU played Cincy twice in the last decade or so. It’s probably more Texas than OU in the above statement. I believe it’s confirmed that OU is not on Bearcats schedule.

RE: 2023 Big12 Football schedule release Tuesday 2PM EST - Bear Catlett - 01-31-2023 10:16 AM

They'll make UC, UCF, Houston and BYU all play each other twice.

Early reports were OU would be coming to Cincinnati. I've also seen a couple of random twitter accounts claim a leaked OU schedule, but I'm not sure I believe it.

Honestly, I have no idea what UC's schedule will be, other than it seems pretty reasonable to assume they won't play TCU (because that leak was actually from the TCU website).

RE: 2023 Big12 Football schedule release Tuesday 2PM EST - UCGrad1992 - 01-31-2023 10:43 AM

I'll be satisfied no matter who we play because no more AAC dregs with 1/3 full stadiums and low fan interest will be on the schedule.
