Good start for the day. Hope to see a couple of surprise additions.

Luke Kandra signed - transfer from Louisville.

Any of you recruiting experts - what is your opinion of how UC is doing so far?

They're signing all of the guys they had committed yesterday with one exception (Josh Gregory an OT out of Missouri, though that is still expected). This is a light class, which is not out of the ordinary for a coaching change, but those who are in it all look to be kids who have the talent required to make an impact at some point in the Big 12. Given that we have an offensive coach and are moving to a more offensive-minded conference, I'm happy to see our top commit is a QB, but he isn't a guy who is going to come in as a freshman and make an impact.

This is an incomplete right now because we're still going to have to hammer the portal to upgrade a lot of positions. Off the top of my mind, in order to even be competitive we will need significant talent infusion at DB, Pass Rush, WR, QB, OT, and RB.

If you look at average ratings, our Bearcats are in the middle of the new Big 12. Unless there are surprises, expect a total of 13 signings today. Next up will be the portal and the February signings.

If we get upgrades on the OL and DL, we will compete very nicely in the Big 12.

We have no proven pass-catchers and I think the dress rehearsal for Prater was a bit of a catastrophe as well. We will need upgrades at those positions to be competitive IMO. If not, we will probably have a 4-5 win season next year.

RE: National signing day - rath v2.0 - 12-21-2022 12:33 PM

There are several position groups just on offense that are not yet ready to compete next year.

RE: National signing day - Cat-Man - 12-21-2022 01:03 PM

It's really unfair to evaluate the RB room because of the crap O-line they had to run behind. Upgrading the line instantly upgrades the RB's.

Just on the basis of the people in the room in general we need more talent. You can't simply have a RB room with 4 scholarship guys in it, two of whom have essentially zero playing experience (Myles Montgomery and Stephan Byrd), one with limited reps (Kiner) and another who was playing safety this year (Ethan Wright).

If this wasn’t posted elsewhere - Cincinnati signs Arizona State quarterback transfer Emory Jones

He was a really bad fit for how Arizona State wanted to use him. Seems like a perfect fit for Satterfield's offense. Showed some great flashes at Florida. This is a huge signing at a huge position of need next season.

Looking at his stats...his TD to INT ratio is not great. He ran for a lot of yards at FLA but nearly nothing at ASU. Can you still be dual threat?
