NIU's Thomas Hammock - epasnoopy - 11-27-2022 04:42 PM

As expected, STF is fine with this season and will not make any changes. NIU only had one season with five wins or less the previous 19 seasons prior to Hammock. Now we've had three in last four seasons, including a winless season.

odd... didnt need to do this. If you win the MAC in a return year from the oddity which was Covid 2020... He should be guaranteed 2 more seasons at least. Lombardi was the offense. Once he went down yall were toast. Any onlooker knew NIU wouldnt catch every break again. Didnt see em catching none either though.

yeah, you all were completely lucky in 2021. it's just the law of averages that you wouldn't be so lucky two years in a row.

RE: NIU's Thomas Hammock - epasnoopy - 11-27-2022 05:06 PM

Giving up 44 points and losing to one-win Akron by 32 points is get fired worthy. Akron was giving up 35 ppg in conference play and we only scored 12.

Anyone who watched yesterday's game saw a team that didn't even try. That looked like a game where the coaching staff lost the team's confidence.

If, as you said, we got lucky last year how are the other three years not indicative of a program trending in the wrong direction?

Toledo fans want to fire Candle and he has a far better record than Hammock. Candle has no losing records in seven seasons.

NIU just lost by 32 points at HOME to a MAC team whose only other win was vs. FCS team.

The program is going in the wrong direction after year 4.

Last year’s MACC probably bought him this year’s mulligan.

Hammock and Lester are on hot seats next year. McElwain isn’t quite there yet but another blah year will get his seat heating up too.

Creighton has some serious job security. I don’t think he’s done enough to get big job offers, but no way EMU lets him go.

What about Chuck Martin? His seat’s got to be getting cooler. I thought since their MACC they’ve been good, but I just looked & they’ve been pretty .500 under him. 1-2 in bowl games. Only one 8 win season. Did take over a bad program but 9 years at the helm. Good match-up vs another 6-6 Birmingham team in this year’s bowl, so we shall see. A loss & you got to start getting annoyed, I think.

His MAC record, if you toss out the first 2 years, is okay, nothing special.

Your reading comprehension is pretty poor or was it when you offered him the cash for the buyout he told you he was fine with the season?

It's a waste of a bunch of words. He says we have the pieces in place to return to a championship. What did he see out of this team and staff that looked championship-worthy? They just got the pants beat off them by a bottom 10 team on senior day in their own home stadium. I was at the game and that team looked like it quit and didn't even care.

I want to see a statement that simply says 2022 was unacceptable and we guarantee Huskie fans that changes will be made prior to year 5. That's all that was needed.

STF left a bad basketball coach in place for 9.5 years. We have a terrible baseball coach who has been in place for eight years now. He ust sticks with status quo. I'm not confident in the direction of the program is headed in year 5 and I'll be less confident if the whole coaching staff returns.

According to the Miami athletic website, Miami is 34-16 in the last 50 MAC games, the best in the MAC.

Yes, but let's be honest the East has been lousy for most of his tenure. Chuck deserves credit for building the program up from an abysmal state, but we should be much better in Year 9 of his regime. Our offense was lousy this season, if the D (which we thought would be weaker this year) didn't significantly outperform expectations we would've been 4-8 easily. His contract expires after next year, imo we should extend him two seasons for the sake of recruiting but with a minimal buyout and force him to replace our OC/other offensive position coaches.

Miami has a lot to offer, so any decent coach should be able to receuit as well as Martin had done. problem is he just can't put it together consistently. Miami should be DOMINATING the EAST. Should have had a CMU, Toledo or NIU run under his tenure. Miami has only been to the MAC title game once in the last 12 years, that should not be acceptable for what they have to offer and the recruits that they have signed.
