I think the AAC has a rotating tie-in with Dirty Myrtle, and think this is an off year.

Their website lists Mac/CUSA/SBC as the conference tie-ins this year.

RE: 2022 Bowl Projections - stever20 - 11-28-2022 01:09 PM

I think Alabama probably winds up ahead of Tennessee and thus goes to Sugar Bowl while Tennessee would go to Orange to play Clemson.

RE: 2022 Bowl Projections - Soobahk40050 - 11-28-2022 01:10 PM

Alabama will probably be ranked higher than TN and thus go to the Sugar. TN to the Orange.

Or chaos where
Fiesta Michigan vs Ohio State
Peach Georgia vs Alabama

Rose Utah vs Purdue
Sugar LSU vs Kansas State
Orange UNC vs TN
Cotton TCU vs Tulane

I think they would flip things so it'd be Michigan/Alabama and Georgia/Ohio St to avoid the rematch of Michigan/Ohio St.

First Responder: Kansas (6-6) v. SMU (7-5)
Armed Forces: Air Force (9-3) v. BYU (7-5)

Troy vs UTSA would be a fun match to watch this season!

Tennessee v Clemson in the ORANGE Bowl

That feels appropriate

sigh...bama isn't getting anywhere near the CFP. They wouldn't beat out a 1 loss TCU and they won't beat out a 1 loss tOSU. They probably won't even beat out Tennessee, though it's at least possible to argue that point.

I wouldn't be surprised if they beat out a 1 loss TCU team. If USC and TCU both lose, Alabama could easily be in the playoffs.

Especially if it's a blowout. If it's close that's tougher.

Yeah but I'd rather see Clemson vs. Alabama even if it isn't a Playoff matchup.

It was debated in another thread but shouldn't UT > U of A because of 52-49?

RE: 2022 Bowl Projections - DavidSt - 11-28-2022 07:31 PM

UTSA is now a top 25 team. If they win big, and Tulane loses to UCF? I just can't see how UCF will be in the NY 6 bowl with 3 loses. I think they do give UTSA more respect because they do compete well against P5 schools.

I'd be curious to see UTSA vs. UCF in the CFP rankings tomorrow. Last week, UCF was still #22 with the same three losses and right after they lost at home to Navy. Texas San Antonio wasn't ranked. I'd imagine they could be ranked based on AP and Coaches polls (#23 AP, #24 Coaches) but the interesting thing is UCF is still ranked ahead of UTSA in both (#22 AP, #23 Coaches) and a win at Tulane probably helps them more than UTSA's home win over North Texas.

But then again, don't some G5 bowl announcements usually come out this week? So far only the Bahamas Bowl is official to my knowledge. Maybe the other conferences are holding back because of uncertainty as to who will get the G5 slot.

RE: 2022 Bowl Projections - Herdfan1991 - 11-28-2022 09:13 PM

I don’t really see the difference between UTSA and USA and Troy. UTSA lost by 21 at Texas and 2 at home against a mediocre Houston. Troy lost by 18 at Ole Miss and a walkoff Hail Mary against a mediocre App. USA lost on a walkoff FG at UCLA and by 4 to Troy.

RE: 2022 Bowl Projections - whittx - 11-29-2022 04:41 PM

I saw one prediction that rescheduled the missed SJSU/NMSU game into the New Mexico Bowl. Would require a waiver, though.

They definitely would, at least I remember Hancock said in 2014 that they'd try to avoid rematches in the semis.

TCU has gone 12-0 against a similar schedule to Alabama's in which bama went 10-2 (and very nearly 8-4). Any discussion about bama jumping TCU is ludicrous, it's just a talking point for ESPN to fill up the time until the actual rankings come out.

If you take everything about TCU and bama this year, but flip them so that bama went 12-0 with TCU's schedule and TCU went 10-2 with 2 very close wins with bama's schedule there wouldn't be any discussion about it at all.

RE: 2022 Bowl Projections - Realigned - 11-29-2022 10:09 PM

Let’s make Kansas v Missouri happen at the Liberty Bowl.

RE: 2022 Bowl Projections - DavidSt - 11-30-2022 10:19 AM

I would go with 1.Georgia vs 4.Ohio State. USC will get hosed again by Utah. I will pencil UTSA in for the NY6 bowl over UCF. I think UCF will beat Tulane again.
