Without really researching a lot, it seems like Scott Frost would do well there. He would be at the top of my list for any mid major.

That's probably a really good choice. He was only at UCF for 2 years but he really excelled there. Maybe it's because of what he inherited, but I do think he did a great job there. It's possible that he may be a coach that is better suited away from the P5 programs.

I read elsewhere this was decided a couple weeks back. Not sure the validity of that rumor but TXST was making a change regardless of last night’s outcome.

Not surprising, and I suppose necessary, but the constant turnover has made the HC position at TXST a near toxic opportunity.
On the plus side it’s a FBS program in Texas, San Marcos is a lovely community, the university is wonderful, and the football facilities are top-notch. The salary is also definitely competitive for a G5 program in a developing SBC.
On the down side it’s a program sandwiched between UT-Austin and a fast developing UTSA for regional media attention, and the proximity of nearby A&M and Houston also doesn’t help recruiting.
Hopefully the Bobcats find the right HC this time.

Texas State, being in the Sun Belt Conference, deserve be a more competitive football team. Spavital, IMO was in over his head. I am happy for the Bobcat nation, personally.

It is a non issue there is plenty of talent in the state and region to go around or atleast be competitive.

Striking while the iron is hot with solid new additions to the Sun Belt and after a victory over A&M could bring the leverage needed. Hopefully the new HC has enough name recognition to improve the opportunity.
