What is to come? - True Bearcat - 11-04-2022 08:21 AM

With the ever changing landscape of conference affiliation what would be a final number for the Big XII for now? 12? 14? 16? plus a non football school? Would the Big XII be happy landing Gonzaga, Arizona, and Colorado or Arizona State? I believe Colorado should have never left the Big XII, but understand why they did. I think Utah is willing to go down with the PAC 12 ship instead of being associated with BYU as an equal conference member. Does the Big XII stay at 14 awaiting the ACC to be picked apart? A conference that potentially could span from the Atlantic to the Pacific offering games in all time slots with intriguing matchups could be a win. As a Cincinnati fan, basketball matchups with WVU, Arizona, Kansas, Tech, Baylor, and Gonzaga would be sell outs here, and must watch tv when the Cats are on the road, but on the other hand a football game at 1030pm eastern against a bad Wildcats football team wouldn't move the needle as much as say a 7pm game against TCU. Whatever the answer is I do not know, but will support the Big XII as long as Cincinnati is a member.

Check out this podcast and listen to the Gonzaga section

I thought it was pretty interesting. To me it sounded like a potential Gonzaga move is being considered with one eye on Arizona. I would take Gonzaga and Arizona in second imo

Would definitely take Arizona and Gonzaga; arguably the two biggest basketball brands out west. UCLA is really the only other basketball brand that would be in consideration as being better than UofA or Gonzaga.

Nothing says small time than a non FB member. WSU in the AAC!

I actually agree with this. There are too many programs with football that would move the needle more. Arizona and Colorado are better fits, and when the ACC gets decimated I would like to see Louisville and Pitt be added. Both of them have had success in football and basketball through the years.

What is the fascination with Colorado? They're not good at anything and their administration doesn't care. They'd be a drain on the Big 12 -- the new Kansas without basketball.

Gonzaga won't stop any of those from happening. and could help.

Big 12 already has several non-football members.

Hopefully just a passing fad from people that don't know much more than the name, and not something anyone in power is really considering.

Smoked rack of baby back ribs, Southern style potato salad, cole slaw, and beer.

Not sure if all current big12 schools have signed a GOR for the new deal or is everyone waiting to see what the pac12 does, whether California board of regents successfully block ucla’s move to the BIG.

Think ucla decision comes up in before thanksgiving

The big12 will all sign the GOR, just a formality. No GOR no tv deal, and every school wants the deal. UCLA isn't changing its mind.

B12 keeps moving forward despite PAC10.

I think Colorado's current situation is due to them being in the Pac 12. I think changing conferences would be good for them.

Plus it gives us a former "name" school....

Colorado was terrible at the end of its Big 12 run, too. That program sucks because the Colorado administration doesn't prioritize football. That's not going to change with another conference shuffle.

The Big 12 doesn't need "name" schools. It needs committed programs that add value to its football and men's basketball products. Colorado doesn't fit that bill.

Yep-- our former AD (now USC AD Mike Bohn) was AD at Colorado before he came to UC. I saw him at multiple functions where he said as much about the leadership in Boulder. They lost their interest in playing football at the highest level after the 2nd rape scandal.

As a Houston fan, I’d like someone else to finish last while I wait out Coach Red Bull’s contract.
