Our team is still relatively new. We'll get there eventually.

Keep working on it. Starting from scratch isn't easy.

VB has been our most consistently good program. They're always up there in the mix.

I'm shocked to see South at 3-6. They were good last year. I assume graduating seniors left major holes in the roster?

Our “volleyball stadium” is called the Wellness Center and not the Volleyball Arena for a reason. It’s a multipurpose building, and some of the purposes are legitimately applicable to the intended goals of group assigned to distribute the money. Did our volleyball team benefit from money not directly allotted to college athletics? Yep, but as scandals go, this is sparrow fart. It’s the kind of thing that happens all the time with public funds. It’s no different than back in the old days when schools put dorm rooms inside their football stadiums so some of the construction costs could be covered by housing budgets. Heck, a certain Florida-based CUSA invitee is using that very ploy as we speak (you can Google that on your own).

For cripes sake, the official press release announcing construction literally names the Mississippi Community Education Center as a partner. This isn’t some huge secret a master investigative reporter uncovered:

JSU had to scale back the plans and removed the dorms from their stadium. Now it will just house a dining hall. It will seat 19,000 or less.

Quote:The old press box on the north side of the stadium and some of the bleachers will be removed, which will decrease seating capacity. The stadium project was originally planned to hold 24,000 fans but will be reduced by at least 5,000

What a shame.

In the context of this discussion, though, I want to be clear that the original plan & funding were all hunky dory. It’s only being scaled back because the money won’t go as far now due to "The supply-chain issue and inflation.”

We may need a pinned thread explaining how this is a running joke.

Our new coach has schedule in a way to build some confidence for a young squad learning a new system. I don't think we are ready to compete for any honors in the Belt yet. The last several years we have not been good in Belt play. That's not likely to change so soon.

That certain Florida based CUSA “invitee” is an accountant who specializes in non-profit accounting and is well aware that the Mississippi Community Education Center is under High Advisory by Charity Navigator and their accountant has already plead guilty to a material diversion of assets. Just because you throw a tiny soup kitchen in the back of a volleyball arena doesn’t make it right.
