Sorry, UCF fans - bear2be2 - 05-08-2022 11:12 PM

I just became a USF fan ... for the next two seasons anyway.

Former Baylor starting quarterback Gerry Bohanon announced his commitment to the Bulls today, and I'll be rooting like hell for him as long as he's in Tampa.

That dude was an unbelievable representative for Baylor for the four years he was in Waco, and he's a winner through and through. As much as of a train wreck as USF appears to be from the outside, I'm sincerely hoping now that he can be part of a major turnaround there under Jeff Scott.

Enjoy their 5 wins.

Seems like a good pickup. Why did he lose the starting job? Can he play without an O-line?

He's not as polished a passer as last year's backup and current starter Blake Shapen, who opens up some things in the offense that Gerry didn't. But he's a really good runner and one hell of a leader. I was hoping we could find a way to play both he and Shapen this year, but it wasn't to be. But I'll be surprised if he doesn't make USF considerably better.

They have some decent athletes, assuming Timmy McClain doesn't transfer and take Joe Horn with him -- they'd be pretty well set-up to go to FAU or FIU. Not much on the lines though. He'll be running for his life.

5 wins might be enough to keep Coach Scott around for a few more years.

He might be a quality add for them but I think the dysfunction over there is more than just one QB. He’ll be running for his life, just hope he stays healthy.

I hope usf is better.

When both schools are strong the War on I-4 game has national interest. A strong rivalry benefits both programs. 2022 might be the last game before the rivalry is paused. USF’s schedule is completely booked for the near future. UCF leads the series right now.

Bohanon is a big, sturdy dude at 6-3, 220. He's built pretty well and is a good, instinctive scrambler. If I was USF, I'd make him a much bigger part of the running game than Baylor did last year. He can be a difference-maker with his legs.

RE: Sorry, UCF fans - goodknightfl - 05-11-2022 09:40 AM

USF should be better than they have been, maybe this guy helps turn them around.

Never understood this. Would like them to go 0-12 every year.

IMO, Bohanon better than Shapen.

They're very different players who each unlock different parts of the playbook. I was really disappointed for Gerry when he got leapfrogged after doing all he did for us last season. But in the transfer portal era, where it's one or the other, those are the types of decisions that get made. I think Shapen will be good for us. But I'll be a Gerry Bohanon fan forever. That guy is awesome, and all he did at Baylor was wait his turn, work his tail off and play well when he finally got the opportunity to start.

Bohannon should do well at USF... but there is too much traffic at the top of that league right now... until the 3 schools depart.

I'm not sure that all of all future conference mates understand the history of the bad blood between UCF and USF. Many people believe that Genshaft had a lot to do not only with keeping UCF out of the Big East but also the disintegration of the Big East. If USF starts investing more in their program by building an on campus stadium maybe they will get an invite to a P5 program in the future. Not many UCF fans will give them a hand. Karma's a bit....ch.
Ding!

Doubt we see the same tv numbers in UCF-WVU that we saw in UCF-USF.
