2022 WAC Postseason thread - DoubleRSU - 03-13-2022 12:18 AM

NCAA - NMSU
NIT - None
CBI - Cal Baptist, SFA, ACU
TBC - None

Seattle 23-9
SFA 22-9
GCU 23-8
SHSU 19–14
ACU 23-10
UVU 20-12
CBU 18-15

All others have losing records and I really doubt they participate in the CBI or TBC.

It’s a tough one to predict. The NIT is a lot of major conference teams, the auto bid teams who lost in their conference final, and some teams that really got screwed out of the big dance. I am not sure how they will look at WAC regular season co champs, but that has to be a strong plus. Does that mean the regular season co champs are in automatically? Anyone know?

The new tournament is a mystery to me other than the little I’ve been reading. Not sure if any of it is correct or just guesses.

CBI is a little more predictable. We’ll have several teams in it, I’m sure.

FWIW, for those that don’t go on the main board much, here’s a thread of some of the teams that are already placed. Thought you might find it interesting, started by none other than our very own DoubleRSU.

NMSU vs UConn 12/5 on Thursday

RE: 2022 WAC Postseason thread - NeptunianEmp - 03-13-2022 05:52 PM

NMSU has a good matchup against UConn and it is a winnable game. Any WAC team that appears in the post season should go far. I go from an NMSU fan to a WAC fan.

NIT bracket will be released at 6 PM PT if anyone is curious who will be in. Just an fyi.

21 at large spots available as 11 are auto bids.

Not sure we will see SU or SFA in the NIT.

I guess a regular season cochamp does not count for an auto bid? I don’t know how it works.

They do not. Only the #1 seed gets the autobid. Assuming they’re not a transitioning team like CBU, etc

Unless something has changed, transitioning teams should be eligible for the NIT as it’s not sponsored by the NCAA. ACU womens team played in the WNIT a couple times while transitioning.

Maybe I overlooked one, but I looked twice and don't see any WAC schools in the NIT bracket.

RE: 2022 WAC Postseason thread - YesCubanB - 03-13-2022 08:49 PM

That’s a bunch of BS. There are at least 1 WAC team worthy of the NIT. And I think 3 are deserving. The WAC got the shaft there.

Didn’t really expect any of them in there though. If Long Beach or Princeton, a few other conferences would have been won by the 1 seed, maybe. Seattle didn’t beat anyone in the non-conference. Not sure about SFA.

No WAC teams.

Seattle’s best non-con win was at home vs Alcorn State. Lost to Washington and blown out by Wazzu and UNLV isn’t going to get you in the NIT.

SFA beat MTSU and Liberty. Lost to Kansas, St Louis, and South Dakota State. Not getting you in the NIT either.

It’s clear the WAC is a stronger league, but it won’t get better respect until those good OOC wins come more often.
