He's a really good and mature kid. Comes from good stock. His dad was a great player at Clemson. Being kin to Scalf didn't get him on the team. Brooks chose UNCW over many other schools. Scalf was a factor in his choosing, not the other way around.

Regardless of all that though, congrats to Baldwin. That is no small feat, and he’s a helluva good ball player. Hopefully he finds success at the next level too.

Baldwin is a great player and deserving of POY -I might have been the suspect here ! If so and I don't remember ,the great thing is that it is more than ok to be wrong about a player and definitely a good thing when they turn out be one the best players I have ever seen at UNCW.

For those traveling I am giving my BBQ recommendations. Coming from Wilmington on 40 I suggest to exit at 319 if you are hungry at that time and check out Redneck BBQ Lab or if you are a die hard ENC only at same exit you are only couple miles away from Stephensons BBQ. Another quick hop off 40 is at HWY 54 exit for Graham Smokehouse at Steves is top notch Q brisket and always another unique smoked item. They also have great beer selection. no more than 10 minutes off path and worth it. You will see signs for Hurseys it is very average in my opinion but will do as there are 3 locations in the greater Burlington area. In Elon I am not aware of any good place but maybe someone can pick an unoffical Seahawk gathering for pre and post game

I rate Hurseys around a 6 I like the original location best. They do have a unique way of cooking their chicken that is tasty. I would be remiss to not mentions Zak's hot dogs as it is one of best hot dog stands I have visited nad what is better than hot dogs and baseball this time of year
