Sam Houston has a tough challenge at Seattle. With each passing game, more and more weight falls on both those team's shoulders as they post W's.

If Sam Houston beats Seattle in Seattle - what does the temperature of the room feel like at that point? It should be a great game and good barometer for what we are seeing thus far in WAC play.

Gonna be a fun game to watch. I’m interested in seeing how Seattle plans do contain Flagg and if the SHSU can do enough to disrupt Seattles offense. Seattles been pretty good lately on D forcing a decent amount of turnover. Everything from the past leads me to think it’s gonna be a shootout. I’m expecting a high scoring game. Especially if Sams shooters are on.

Seattle is playing pretty well, and beating teams. Winning is all that matters in the end. But looking at Seattle's schedule and wins is sobering.

Their average win is NET 254, combined records of their wins is 82-157. That's about 6-11. 10 of the 14 teams they've beaten have 6 wins or less at this point in the season. Chicago State has 6 wins.... Only 4 of 14 wins have been teams over a 200 NET.

Their losses average NET is 117, but none of them are having especially impressive seasons. Washington State has a good net at ~58, but is 11-7, Virginia Military Institute is 8-10, UNLV is 10-9, and Washington is 10-8.

I look at a lot of basketball stats. This doesn't have the look of a tournament team from that perspective, unless it was coming out the SWAC or MEAC. I can't help but feel that a losing streak is on its way and Seattle ends up about 4-5th in the conference where they were picked.

The upside is that some of their conference wins have been on the road, and/or against teams with solid NET rankings, but perhaps not great records, like SFA and ACU. And the other upside is that the best teams they have beaten are nearly all more recently. The NET doesn't care when a win or loss occurs, they all count the same. That's fine for ranking the season as a whole, but I think anyone would prefer that their best wins be recent, not 3 months ago, and they definitely have momentum on their side now.

All the wins that are against less than impressive teams really doesn't matter, and as long as they keep winning, they should be fine. But I still can't help but feel that when they really get punched in the mouth a couple of times, that they just might go down. But, that's why we play the game. It'll be interesting, that's for sure.

Dixie leading Chicago 55-47, 11 minutes to go.

Play of the game for me so far, Ked Green threw the ball off a Dixie players back on in inbounds pass under the Chicago basket. Green grabbed the ball and scored an easy 2.

And then a few minutes later Green absolutely nailed a Dixie player with the ball when he was about to get a 5 second call, and the ball went out off Dixie. He hit the guy somewhere in the upper body too. And Green then went straight to the bench and someone else finished that throw in lol.

SHSU up 28-18 with 6:45 left in the half. Was 24-8 a few moments ago.

RE: WAC MBB Week #12 - FirstandGoal - 01-29-2022 05:01 PM

Lamar and ACU locked up in a tight battle, with Lamar leading by one at the half, 37-36.

RE: WAC MBB Week #12 - Todor - 01-29-2022 05:04 PM

79-65, Dixie takes it.

Chicago had 3 pointer rim out that would have cut it to 2 with about 3 minutes left. Then Dixie got back to back scores, got it to a 10 point lead and hit free throws after that.

Didda did not play, but Green, Chicago's point guard who has been out since December with either a concussion or concussion protocol played and made a huge difference. They don't have anyone who can run point the well.

RE: WAC MBB Week #12 - DoubleRSU - 01-29-2022 05:15 PM

47-43 SHSU 15:43 left

RE: WAC MBB Week #12 - KINGALLISON - 01-29-2022 05:40 PM

Sam Houston has lost their legs.

RE: WAC MBB Week #12 - DoubleRSU - 01-29-2022 05:44 PM

70-52 Seattle U 4:52 left. Quite a turnaround. Looks like SHSU will go back home and be welcomed by 10% of their arena being full for the next home game!

RE: WAC MBB Week #12 - DoubleRSU - 01-29-2022 05:56 PM

Seattle now 8-0 in the WAC!

RE: WAC MBB Week #12 - DZ1 - 01-29-2022 06:02 PM

Congrats Seattle! Nice to see you doing so well. See you on Thursday in Phoenix!

RE: WAC MBB Week #12 - DZ1 - 01-29-2022 06:03 PM

Lamar is in a good spot to get their first WAC win. Currently leading ACU 77-74 with 3 minutes left.

Lamar is still winless. Crazy ending to the game with Coach Brooks of Lamar getting tossed.

So its still Lamar, Delaware State and IUPUI who haven't beaten a D1 team yet.

Refs blew a call, when Adams drove for a potential game tieing score. Adams got fouled at least once as he began his drive then got called for a questionable charge as he released the shot which went in. Brooks had the natural reaction and got T'd up, then continued to complain picking up the second T. That's the way this full season has gone for the Cards, close but no cigar.

But to be that close, and then have it come down to a call, that's gotta be really frustrating for all.
