The Seattle games interest me, but I'm more curious to find out more about Cal Bap this season. They have underperformed this season compared to what I was expecting, so a few more wins would at least get them into the upper half of the conference, if they can do it. When is Lamar going to get a D1 win? This week? Will RGV get a streak of wins going? I think they are ready to get clicking. I sense it. Chicago State has played well at home. I think the Dixie game could be close. I think Utah Valley just goes inside and dominates them if CSU is short handed. But I'm not sure who Chicago will have available, so if they are close to full strength, they could give Utah Valley a run. Ask Cal Bap about CSU... RE: WAC MBB Week #12 - Todor - 01-24-2022 08:15 AM As we start the week, here are the current NET Rankings for WAC schools and joiners. I'm going to try to do this every week on Sunday after the Saturday games have factored in. For those who don't watch the NET frequently, a teams NET doesn't change much when they don't play. Teams will bump up or down a few spots based on other games happening, if teams they have played won or lost etc, but just a small amount. By game time on Wednsday/Thursday, these should still be pretty close. And here's a reminder on how the Quadrants work, since its how the wins/losses get "ranked" Quadrant 1: Home 1-30, Neutral 1-50, Away 1-75 Quadrant 2: Home 31-75, Neutral 51-100, Away 76-135 Quadrant 3: Home 76-160, Neutral 101-200, Away 135-240 Quadrant 4: Home 161-353, Neutral 201-353, Away 241-353 89 New Mexico State 94 Grand Canyon 106 Utah Valley 125 Seattle 140 Abilene Christian 142 SFA 184 Sam Houston 199 Tarleton 223 Cal Bap 273 Dixie State 276 RGV 330 Chicago State 349 Lamar 181 Southern Utah 242 UTA 350 UIW Below are the 1-16-22 NET Rankings. They are interesting on their own, but a lot has happened in the WAC in the past week, so I thought I would pull up an older one so we can see how some of the wins and losses get reflected in the NET. 61 Grand Canyon 68 NM State 107 Utah Valley 133 AC 147 Seattle 152 SFA 185 TS 232 SHS 234 Cal Baptist 263 UTRGV 286 Dixie State 326 Chicago State 350 Lamar RE: WAC MBB Week #12 - TexanFan - 01-26-2022 10:28 PM What an ending to the ACU/UTRGV game. ACU 87 UTRGV 85. Tarleton wins over Lamar 62-57. RE: WAC MBB Week #12 - Outsider - 01-26-2022 10:30 PM ACU with an absolutely horrific win over UTRGV. Literally one of the ugliest games I have seen in a long time. RE: WAC MBB Week #12 - Todor - 01-26-2022 10:37 PM (01-26-2022 10:30 PM)Outsider Wrote: ACU with an absolutely horrific win over UTRGV. Literally one of the ugliest games I have seen in a long time. Why was it ugly? I didn't watch or listen, but it looks like a lot of points were scored. RE: WAC MBB Week #12 - TexanFan - 01-26-2022 10:43 PM RGV had three kids foul out and so they had a manager or somebody run into the locker room and dress. Kid finished the game. RGV was leading by 10 with about 2 minutes to play and the fouls and ACU started. Crazy. Literally one of the ugliest games I have seen in a long time. See Texfan's response. Literally, UTRGV had 3 guys foul out and were down to 4 players until they had a guy run into the locker room and get dressed out. The same guy steps out with 15 seconds left on an inbound pass and gives ACU the ball to shoot the game winning 3-point shot. Still, ACU played horribly in the 2nd half and let UTRGV get an 11-point lead that they only got because their top players were gone. Even with that, UTRGV was extending the lead until the very end when ACU finally took advantage of the bench's mistakes. The aggressive ACU defense that seemed stifling just before conference play has been struggling to shutdown opposing offenses now that we are in WAC play. RE: WAC MBB Week #12 - Todor - 01-26-2022 11:04 PM Cal Bap leading SH 34-31 and Seattle up on SFA 37-25, both at the half. Literally one of the ugliest games I have seen in a long time. It's hard to watch. Several of our defensive stats are still decent, but we are struggling to score effectively off of our defense a lot of the time. We just aren't aggressive enough anymore and we are making rooky mistakes, leaving shooters wide open for shots. Then, on offense, we get out of rhythm and overthink things, missing wide open simple shots... RE: WAC MBB Week #12 - DoubleRSU - 01-27-2022 12:00 AM SFA just didn’t go away, but SU hangs on and goes to 7-0 and 16-4 overall. 70-62 RE: WAC MBB Week #12 - Todor - 01-27-2022 12:06 AM (01-27-2022 12:00 AM)DoubleRSU Wrote: SFA just didn’t go away, but SU hangs on and goes to 7-0 and 16-4 overall. The first few minutes after halftime, it really looked like Seattle was going to put the game away. I don't know what the largest lead was, but it was around 20. And then it kept getting closer. Looks like Cal Bap score is final now, losing 73-68 at home to SH. CBU now 2-5 in conference. CBU is still playing without Taran Armstrong. His passing really opens up the offense for his teammates. He hasn't played since January 8th. And, he hasn't seen real game action since December 18th against Arizona. CBU will not be a WAC contender unless he returns. RE: WAC MBB Week #12 - YesCubanB - 01-27-2022 07:46 AM Watching both the Seattle/SFA and CBU/SHSU games there are a few things that stood out: 1. Flagg is a beast. Took over the game at one point and put the team on his back. 2. Seattle is gonna be tough to beat if they stay healthy. So many scoring options and they’re efficient. And this coach has them defending. 3. That ginger kid from Seattle has perhaps the best head of hair I’ve seen in a while. 4. The CBU announcers are a national treasure. So many puns lol I love them so much. RE: WAC MBB Week #12 - KINGALLISON - 01-27-2022 01:35 PM Seattle will probably beat Sam Houston but we'll know next weekend if Seattle is for real when they play @ GCU and then @ NMSU. I’m going to have to disagree with you on that ginger. Keli Leaupepe from Loyola has the best hair in the business. Lol RE: WAC MBB Week #12 - Todor - 01-27-2022 09:22 PM UVU has 73-66 lead with about 11 minutes left. Chicago is aggressive defensively and getting steals. Fast paced game. Fun game so far. Chicago State just got their 5th turnover with 8 minutes left in the game, in an incredibly fast paced game. Aimaq still with single digit rebounding, with both teams shooting well over 50% from the field. UVU pulled away and now up by 17 3 minutes left. UVU wins 101-87. Chicago could not overcome very hot shooting from UVU. CSU falls to 4-4 at home this season. |
