$2M/year to OC and recruit at a Power 5 school seems like a no-brainer. Especially since it can be a springboard for him to HC in the future if he performs. Think all parties involved would be happy.

If Candle leaves, I think OB (and the Board of Trustees) would be in favor of a contract to sign Kehres to be the Head Coach. Coach Kuligowski becomes the Defensive Coordinator and Weiner is elevated to OC.

IF Coach Weiner is elevated to OC - watch out for Tucker Gleason coming on strong to be the starter next season.

Coach Kuligowski can pull from some of his connections to replace Larry Black and what ever other positions become available.

I like this option a lot!

Sounds good is that Kehres would not be learning to be a HC on our time like JC is doing. Be interesting to see what all happens in the next week as Im guessing that the U will not want to linger on this move.

Another Mount Union guy.

Poach no some commits may enter the portal to other schools though.

OC is really his wheelhouse. That's what he was at ISU, right? For a week? I don't know if he's a "great" OC. As I recall, he had a lot of talent to work with when he was OC here.

Not sure I see him as a HC again in D1. I never thought he had the personality for that job and there's nothing wrong with that. If this story is true I think it would be a great move for him. There is more potential for him as an OC than as a HC IMO.

lets say $2m per year as Miami OC, 5 yrs $10m all guaranteed, he won't have any problem finding a house he can easily afford in Miami with that contract. Keeping in mind low cost of living while living in Toledo he already likely has a nice nest egg of savings from $1.2m salar, and willing to bet a $400,000+ house he owns outright and in this market likely easily sell.

And we’ll be waiting until July for a HC until they hire a new AD

I think Vince Marrow would be a good candidate to replace Candle if they don’t fill internally. He is know as one fo the best recruiters in the country

He bought a house in Stone Oak for $284k in 2014. Currently worth about $400k+. 3,200 sq ft. Would probably cost like a million+ in Miami/Coral Gables.

yea $10m contract makes it easy to buy a $1 million home - and thats not even accounting for savings he may already have, cash from that sale - cost of living in Miami is an issue for many but not a guy with $10m guaranteed income

I doubt he would get a 5 year deal.

ok .....2-3 yr contract is still $4-6m, can easily to afford $1m home in Miami, cost of living is no barrier

RE: Candle a "Top Candidate" for Miami, FL OC Position - northcoastRocket - 01-18-2022 05:58 PM

I would guess that if Candle were to take that job, Kehres and Kool would be on the phone the next day looking for other opportunities since they are eminently marketable, but would have no guarantee of being retained at UT.

I've said it before and I think the best pick for a new HC would be Jim Harding, but I am not sure he can be lured back from out west, and I think he's already making like half-a-mil as an associate HC.
