At the end of the CBS Eye on College Basketball podcast hosted by Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander there were 5 teams they cited were either done or teetering on NCAA tournament at-large bids. They cited both Memphis and WSU as out given the baffling losses by both teams. Further gave little hope that the conference will have any teams other than Houston in the tournament this year.

Somebody is likely to step up and make a late run.
Memphis I think still has that potential.
Wichita I just can’t figure out.
Any of 4 or 5 others could still get hot and maybe get attention with a strong finish.

if anyone is curious the ncaa is discussing potentially adding a new rule just for this year in their meeting tomorrow

the a10 is pushing to allow redshirts to play 4 games, just for this year...there is no official word in which way itll go.. but the person they interviewed in the athletic article (that's not involved) like the chances...

SMU gets a half dozen votes in this week’s Coaches top 25 poll.
Translation: we are screwed at Memphis this week.

The way things are going at this point, SMU is being viewed as a potential 21-win team heading into the AAC tournament. That (21 wins) plus two AAC tourney wins might be enough to earn them a NCAA bid with 23 wins, or the % equivalent.

Cincy may be another potential 21-win team that could win a couple of AAC tourney games to finish with the % equivalent of 23 wins.

Otherwise, the only way the AAC will earn 2 NCAA bids would be if some team other than Houston wins the AAC tourney.

Right now, barttorvik.com predicts:

SMU: 21-9 (regular season)
Cincy: 20-11
Memphis: 16-12
UCF: 17-11
Wichita St: 16-14

massey predicts:

SMU: 20 or 21 wins
Cincy: 20 wins
Memphis: 17 or 18 wins
UCF: 17 or 18 wins
Wichita St: 14 to 16 wins

realtimerpi predicts:

SMU: 20-11
UCF: 19-10
Memphis 18-12
Cincy: 18-13
Wichita St.: 17-13

Average prediction:

SMU: 21.5 wins
Cincy: 19.3 wins
UCF: 18 wins
Memphis: 17 wins
Wichita St: 15.7 wins

bracketmatrix.com:

.................avg. seed........# of bracketologies (78 total)
Memphis........10.95.......................20
UCF...............11.67.........................9
Cincinnati.......12.00........................1

LOL.... Shockers tapping out.

That’s good. Maybe if they don’t play anymore they’ll stay Q2 road win.

Coogs been hit with a huge dose of kryptonite lately... but still managing to keep their heads above water.

Hope they weather this injury hurricane.
