Woof. This has turned into a bar burner of a conversation I see.

I believe FAU should be in the second group. Today’s 4pm game will be an indication if I’m right or if I’m being a homer.

That's probably about right. It really is a must win for FAU. Charlotte has yet to play a conference road game (and FAU has yet to play a home game), so you have to make FAU the favorite.

The calm before the storm. Conference play is about to heat up. Then we'll see the cream rise to the top. And the rhetoric will heat up between fans too.

RE: Week 10 CUSA Basketball Power Rankings - FIU4Ever - 01-17-2022 03:25 PM

We are trending in the wrong direction. Just too inconsistent.

Really no debate on the top 3 at this point and only pretty minor differences in the next 3-4. It'll become more debatable with more games played.

I agree with most of this. I'd still place all three (UAB, UNT, & LA Tech) at #1. I just think any one of those could knock off the other on any given night.

I think this is probably the best top C-USA basketball has had since 3.0 started in 2013.

Just don’t call it a barn burner.
Barn Owls would not appreciate that.

Anyway I just got a great idea for a name of a bar.. The Barn

First round’s on me!

I talked a little smack last week and told the Marshall fans we were gonna beat ‘em at their place.

But no one disagreed.

Guess we were all correct.

Nice to see my team making noize again after a couple of lean years.

RE: Week 10 CUSA Basketball Power Rankings - Magic95Fan - 01-17-2022 11:11 PM

Perhaps it belongs more with next week's rankings, but Florida Atlantic's 30 point drubbing of Charlotte today probably deserves a flip of their rankings.

The problem to this point was that the East teams hadn't played near as many games as the West had. I think we are starting to get a better idea of what everyone looks like now.

Well that went well.

If FAU can win at least one of the other two this week we definitely would be in the middle of group 2.

RE: Week 10 CUSA Basketball Power Rankings - Tech80 - 01-18-2022 08:05 AM

Tech is not #1. Well, we certainly haven't earned it, proven it. We might and this 3-game homestand will go a long way to setting the bar, but as of right now, we are NOT #1. The early season schedule has been very favorable. We have played exactly one contender, WKU, and that was a squeaker at home. I'll accept a #1 ranking when we beat someone on the road.

We lost Isaiah Crawford for the season, and that killed any chance of Tech plowing thru a grueling 18-game conference schedule and emerging #1 come March.

1). UNT 1). UAB

3). Tech (as someone pointed out, we are #3)

I agree with the above. I think Tech has the shooters to get hot and make a run, but losing Isaiah put Tech in a spot where we may be too dependent on the three and on charge/blocks going against the top 2 defensive teams in the conference. We will see how the next few weeks go, but the row to hoe got a lot tougher after he went down.

I have little doubt that with a healthy Crawford Tech is sitting at 17-1 and in the top 15 as a legitimate sweet 16 team with a possible third weekend run if the Guards got hot. I know he is overshadowed a lot by Junior, but on any other Tech team over the last twenty years Isaiah would be the star. Hopefully he makes a complete recovery over the off-season.

I dont think so. A few years ago when MT Western, ODU, UAB and Marshall were all good was probably better. That group had more P5 wins and the RPI's were in the 20s for MT and Western with the others not far behind.

I will be there to see it. Two very good teams squaring off.

Yeah, no way this year is better than the 2018 year.

We had four top teams that year, and I don't think any of these three teams would beat any of those four teams in a winner take all, that was probably the best CUSA 3.0 year, no question.
