Feel like UH could have been higher but at the same time I don’t think we should be so I guess that’s about right

Highest non-P5 ranking for any team since the CFP began. Congrats Cincy!

RE: Final AP poll - football - quo vadis - 01-11-2022 11:17 AM

I think Cincy deserved that #4 ranking. Could have made a case for one of the Big 12 teams ahead of them, but not a good one.

Agree, Cincinnati showed they belong on the big CFP stage this season.

Well technically they are a B-12 team even though they haven't entered the building yet, so they get a mulligan this year. 05-stirthepot 05-stirthepot 05-stirthepot04-cheers

I hope NC State is pre-season top 20.

edit - And BYU, Cincy and Houston too... 4 preseason ranked teams would be great for what should be a good Pirates team!

RE: Final AP poll - football - Milwaukee - 01-13-2022 02:37 AM

.

Question: Why did (11-2) San Diego State, the MWC West Division Championship team play (11-1) UTSA, the CUSA Championship team in a bowl game, in effect, making it impossible for both teams to make their way into the final 2021-22 AP Top 25?

Why were the MWC and CUSA so inept at bowl scheduling that they couldn't manage to schedule a bowl game vs. one of the dozens of P5 teams that were available?

Or is the problem that they could have scheduled a P5 team, but for some reason
thought it would be preferable to play one of the top G5 teams?

If so, how could they have considered it preferable when they knew that one or the other, but not would end up in the final AP top 25?

Both teams ended with 12-2 records, and both teams should have been in the final top 25, ahead of some of the P5 teams that had 4 losses.

The AAC deserves credit for the fact that so many of AAC bowl games were scheduled vs. P5 teams.

A great year for the AAC for sure.

Congrats to Cincy and Houston

RE: Final AP poll - football - uhmump95 - 01-13-2022 09:22 PM

I think Cincinnati should have been number 3. They showed better against Bama then Michigan did against Georgia IMO.

I think there should have been a consolation game. I think we were better than Michigan.

If they had a consolation game before the final, what percentage of starters opt out to prepare for the draft.

That argument would hold much more water had Alabama beaten Georgia in the final. With Georgia being the obviously better team in that game, the Cincy-Michigan argument is a toss up.
