Miami probably only program with both decent size football and basketball trophy case in the MAC.

Whats the total pre tourney? As a UT fan Im split on feeling that a 3 game schedule in 3 days is the best way to name a winner over the course of a year. Even if it is predominantly used in D1 mbb.

Im more of a fan of only 8 teams making it, opposed to 12. 4 would make even more sense, if you want the 20 game MAC schedule to mean more. Get healthy in March... all it takes.

Toledo skipped zero games with covid i
2020-2021 and Ohio had a bunch of breaks. With our short bench we were detrimented by the entire season schedule then running into a hot rested Ohio.

Its not an excuse because Ohio just whooped us... But we beat em in the regular season so it felt like a smack in the face (again). Another banner for no prize.

edit: Ohio had 11 games postponed or cancled. Toledo had 1. Ohio played 3 games from february 2nd to March 11th. A 2 game cancel break before the MAC tourney.

Ohio is the class of the MAC, and it's not really close. A league title and subsequent NCAA tourney berth in every decade since the 80s.

BG, NIU, UT...oof. Surprised by Ball State. What happened to their program? They're certainly due for another one.

Ohio also has the most wins in the NCAA tournament with eight. Miami is second with six wins, and they have the most appearances with 17 (Ohio has 14). Miami has had a drought since 2007.

In all due respect not with their head coach. I believe BSU, EMU and UT should be consistently good based on location for recruiting, and amenities; however, coaching has kept each program down. I do believe EMU Coach Heath will revitalize EMU program.

Just look what BSU did with Rick Majerus. Billy Butts, Pervis MCardy, and they had another talented player but his name escapes me.

MAC West schools have a lot of potential relative to how they grade out in the NET if they can find a way to get a little more investment.

Yes, I'd agree with how big basketball is in Indiana, I'd have expected Ball State to have been better over the last 2 decades. They haven't been bad under Whitford, but I don't see them winning a MAC title with him either. They could really be something if they find the right coach.

Toledo under coach K has been pretty good during the regular season, but just can't win the MAC title. He's pretty much the basketball version of Solich. I think it's just a matter of time before Toledo makes it to the big dance.

BGSU has look improved under Huger. I don't really have a strong conviction either way on whether he's capable of getting BGSU a MAC title. He certainly built a strong roster when he had Turner, but unfortunately that was at a time when the MAC was pretty loaded.

I'd this point I'd be excited if we could just finish above .500.

The last 20 plus years has basically been Kent, Akron, Buffalo and Ohio. Buffalo started improving in basketball 20 years ago but didn't max its potential out until the last decade.

There is the tournament trophies but those have been consistently the Top 4 of the conference. Toledo's had good regular seasons so they would round out typical Top 5 of any given MAC basketball season.

MAC East has been where the basketball power has been last 20 years. Also moving the tournament to Cleveland was a huge advantage For Ohio, Kent State and Akron. The alumni in Cleveland really turn out in big numbers in March. Got some courtside seats from Miami one year real cheap as they couldn't sell their tickets for their game and OU was the second game on the same side as they gave us a deal right before tip off of the first game. Lots of OU fans bought up the tickets. Funny having a bunch Bobcats sitting right behind Miami bench in the first game of the night.
