Miscellaneous thread for former/transferred ETSU players and related - posterformerlyknownasthedoctor - 11-23-2021 10:39 PM

I just thought you all might want to know what happened last night in Pullman.

Patrick Good just went all Patrick Good on the Cougars, equaling his 11 3-balls in a Buc uniform, keeping the Eagles close to the Cougars down the stretch, before ultimately losing.

Patrick Good being Patrick Good

The Cougars had no answer for Good after the break. The Winthrop senior came off the bench to sink two of his first four 3-pointers in the first half, then caught fire in the second half — hitting 9 of 15 from distance to finish with 33 points.

Good also hit 11 3-pointers when he scored his career high of 35 points.

Undefeated LSU tangling with undefeated Wake just starting. Not sure what channel, but surely it's on somewhere, for those wishing to see how Monsanto and Daivien are doing.

Not sure I could recognize Monsanto in street clothes.

Man, I could. Very distinctive walk. And that's not even counting his haircut.

Monsanto is out for the season so that’s how he’s doing.

That's why I said he would be in street clothes...

Why did Patrick Good transfer from ETSU?

Did Monsanto and Daivien transfer to Wake?

Back in November, Daivien Williamson got his 1000th career point (see photo with Forbes):

He missed tonight's game, apparently due to COVID protocol, and wasn't on the bench.

He continues to do well, averaging 13 a game in 31 minutes, and Wake is 12-3. 2-2 early in the ACC conference.

Mladen Armas averaging about 7 and 8 for 17-5 Boise St., who have won 15 out of their last 16. That only loss being to 20-3 Wyoming.

For those who haven't followed the Bulldogs in Indy, Bo Hodges returned to the line-up a couple of weeks ago and has played 5 games. At Creighton Tuesday night, he went for 10 and 9 with two swats. He had 22 vs. St. John's Saturday. They've lost their last 3, but all were close. Averaging 12 and 6 since he's returned.

Richard Amaefule still wearing his redshirt at Dayton.

In Rock Hill, Patrick Good has entered one of his slumps. After hanging 31 on Presbyterian Jan. 20, he's only 5/20 from deep, and actually went scoreless his last two outings, altho he garnered 5 boards in 17 minutes last night when Radford came calling. He's averaging 3.2 boards. - and 10.8 ppg.

And you all probably know this............but they loves them some ETSU eastern migrants in Winston-Salem. They're all gaga about both Forbes and Monsanto, and even Williamson now, as he's really matured and is more a shooting guard this season. To say their praise for Forbes and Monsanto has been effusive would be a strong understatement.

I'm glad that mostly these fellas have found some degree of basketball success/satisfaction in other places.

Whenever I was flipping channels and saw that Butler was on (usually FS1) this season, I'd watch for a few minutes to see if Bo was playing - but he wasn't. Glad he finally got back to playing. Is this his last year?? I thought he had the potential to play professionally if he wanted to go through the travel, struggle and uncertainty of professional ball.

Some nice ink on Hodges and his comeback:

How he was able to come back from the injury quicker than expected

"“All those guys in the locker room know what Bo Hodges is capable of,” Jordan said."

Butler's upcoming prospects

"Butler’s Bo Hodges is not the best player in the Big East. He has appeared in 13 games and started nine.
But in February, he has been about as good as anyone. Over the past five games, he has averaged 16.2 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. He scored 25 points, his most as a Butler player, at Seton Hall."

Comparing Hodges to Sisyphus

"It must be so for Bo Hodges, who did not come to Butler for this. Butler is 2-6 in February, or more losses in one month than he had in his last season at East Tennessee State (30-4)."

“It is disappointing,” Hodges said. “But we all signed up to do what you love. You come back every day and do what you love."

[At The Hall]..."Hodges shot 10-of-14, and the rest of the team 12-of-40 (30%)."

Armas got huge! Watched them vs San Diego St, and he's just a wide body 5. Bet he's every bit of 260.

Winthrop is 21-8; 14-2 in the conference. And have won eight in a row. Good is averaging 11.6 and 3.3. 44.2% from 3-land on the year. He poured in 30 again (3rd time this year), at UNC-A last Saturday.

Really, really good article on Good and all he's gone through (highly recommended):

Serrell Smith is playing as a reserve for weak USF, averaging 4 and 1, and only ~12 minutes/game. But he did rack up a season high 17 last Tuesday in a loss to Tulane. And the Bulls did beat Wes Miller's Cincy team Sat. night at the buzzer, only their second win since Jan. 15. Now 8-20 and 3-13, tied for the cellar of the AAC.
(And remember, he's from St. Pete, so hoops was not his only reason to transfer to USF.)

Thanks for posting the articles on Bo and Patrick. Glad to see both have done well. Wish they would have done well here, but freer student-athlete movement is the nature of the business today.

Super article on Daivien, with ETSU mentions:

Williamson thriving in Winston

[addendum: meant to include he went for a career-high 28 earlier this week against NC State.]
