As far fetched as it sounds. USM is a sleeping giant and has played the big 12 tough for many years and beat some of the current/new members...see TCU, Houston, Cincinnati . With ESPN involved and USM in the "heart" of SEC country, it makes for strange bed fellows. Just saying.

Not gonna happen.....just not enough market for 3 P5 football programs in a single small state. Isn't Indiana the smallest state that has more than 2 P5 programs, and they have like 2x the population that Mississippi does.

You guys are ragging on the op but he’s probably just repeating what he read on sicem365. Those guys have Memphis, BSU, SMU, and USF fans clicking their site and videos everyday. Now add Tulane and Southern Miss fans to the list. I bet conference realignment has significantly raised the profile of sicem365.

Sic'em 365 is a joke. They retracted the Southern Miss thing less than 24 hours after they reported it. I feel like it was a typo from their source saying USM instead of SMU. They didn't verify with multiple sources and ran with the story. Now they have egg on their face. Their already questionable legitimacy has vanished.
Overall, they are best when they are a reaction show. They take calls, answer text line, and that's about it. Paul Finebaum of the Big12.
I trust the Dennis Dodd reporting of Big12 targeting PAC teams in the off chance the PAC tv deal is really low. Still waiting on more legitimate sources to validate the Memphis and Boise State stuff Sic'em is reporting.

Many of us know Southern Miss has played a lot of good programs well through out the years but this thang about Southern Miss to The Big12 is definitely a huge typo.
I’m sorry but Southern Miss has a much greater shot at joining The AAC versus The Big12.
