GameWeek: @Wisconsin - emu steve - 09-04-2021 11:04 PM

Wisconsin lost to PSU and should be fired up and ready to play. I doubt they will sleep walk the first quarter.

Need to see the 2-deeps Monday to see who is a go or no go for us.

I watched the entire Wisconsin game! They had an insane 95 offensive plays versus 51 for Penn St! Wisconsin was the better team! Fumbled twice deep in Penn State territory! Wisconsin runs the ball unbelievably well! We need every player to be available!

Not a lot of surprises among MAC teams we will play but NIU beat Ga Tech.

https://www.espn.com/college-football/scoreboard/_/group/15/year/2021/seasontype/2/week/1

UMass got rolled by Pitt, but Texas State stayed with Baylor for 4 quarters.

This week UMass hosts BC and Texas State travels to FIU.

RE: GameWeek: @Wisconsin - emu79 - 09-05-2021 06:58 AM

Are we going to use two QBs this game?
Hopefully we see a passing game that clicks rather then choppy. Last year even in our losses the passing game looked strong.
How will how front 7 do against Wisconsin's running game?
Actually saw a few of the defensive line not dressed for the game on Friday.
Will Ryland be ready to go?

A bunch of mediocre teams in the Big 10 who we can compete with and we get...Wisconsin? Why? Unbelievably bad matchup.

$1,400,000. That's why.

I think Wisconsin is going to use the same game plan that EMU used on SFU, they'll be out to beat EMU up with the ground game. EMU will need a few turnovers to keep it close.

That was actually my thought as well. I told a buddy who is a Wisconsin fan I have a feeling they will do what we did to SFU to us.

Hope these fans will settle down by Saturday night.

If your defense is suspect a solid running game can control the clock and keep your defense off the field. Can we run the ball consistently on Wisconsin?

My point is we could have gotten the same $$ from Purdue, Northwestern, Nebraska, etc.

I'm not sure. 1.4M is usually what one can get from a school which can draw HUGE crowds. That's not NW or Purdue. We can check the link for FBS payouts I posted elsewhere.

This game was listed in the 2018 EMU media guide. Also were the games vs. St. Francis and Texas State.

As I see it, we get 1.4M, pay 400K to St. Francis. And pay/receive 150K from Texas State/UMass.

We could get 3Ws and a NET 1M.

EDIT:

September 25 Northwestern Ohio 900,000

Nebraska draws huge plus there is a chance, albeit a small chance, that you could steal a W or at least be competitive. As far as Purdue, NW, Illinois, Rutgers, Indiana, the money would still be in the ballpark and you wouldn't get pummeled. I say work smarter not harder.

RE: GameWeek: @Wisconsin - Jerry Weaver - 09-05-2021 05:51 PM

The Wisconsin-Penn St game outcome was probably our worst nightmare. The Badgers beat Penn St up and coughed up the game with turnovers. Now we get to face a team with a chip on their shoulder looking to make a statement. Ugh!

We are going to get our ass kicked and that is OK! Think U-M 47, WMU 14. Minimize the injuries and make a respectable appearance and I will be sanguine.

I remember expecting us to get blown out at Illinois in 2019. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. Wisconsin is a different animal though but you never know. Just keep it respectable through 3 quarters and anything can happen.

I unfortunately completely agree! Wisconsin dominated Penn St! Chez Melluci is a beast! Will rush for 250 yds if he plays 4 quarters! I just hope no one gets hurt! Wisconsin is our worst nightmare! We struggle to stop the run, and it's Wisconsin ammunition! Wisconsin blew Penn State off the ball! If we lose by less then 3 TDs we win!

RE: GameWeek: @Wisconsin - Lefty One - 09-05-2021 08:44 PM

The Wisconsin QB is very over rated and over blown.

RE: GameWeek: @Wisconsin - emu steve - 09-06-2021 08:13 AM

Camp Randall Stadium
Madison, WI
Tickets as low as $10
Line: WISC -24.0
O/U: 51

If we have EMU fans near Madison, $10 tickets, but gas is extra.

I'll take EMU to cover.

Great teams cover.

This comment belongs in our September musings' thread (pending).

I believe I counted EIGHT top 25 teams which lost this weekend. Not going to be a lot of undefeated teams come mid-October.
