From Sam Herder:
Quote:Tom Wistrcill says there will be a discussion, led by him and the MVFC and CAA commissioners about expanding the FCS playoffs since there will be 2 more AQs (WAC, ASUN) and 2 less at-large bids.

Would be a bigger field with no first-round byes to keep calendar the same. #FCS

I strongly disagree that more at-large bids are needed, even though adding them could arguably make JSU's path to the playoffs a bit easier if we don't win the conference.

Adding the WAC and ASUN AQ bids didn't weaken the field. Some combination of Sam Houston, Central Arkansas, Jax State, and Kennesaw State would likely be there anyway, if not all four. No one will be left out of the playoffs who genuinely deserves to be there.

My understanding is that the NCAA wants to keep AQ 50% and at-large 50%.
So if you add more AQ, then you have to add the same number of at-large.

I see no reason why that 50/50 rule is written on stone tablets.
