I'm okay with Kansas but I keep hearing Iowa State. Flat out...NO. What do they bring beside another mouth to feed? With Kansas you bring in an absolute monster of a basketball program and the Kansas City Market. Their football program leaves a lot to be desired but long term it's a solid addition. Iowa is the second least populated state in the Big Ten... Why have 2 schools there?
The Big Ten has the luxury of waiting. Either go after Mizzou, or start quiet talks with some ACC targets and wait for their grant of rights to be close to expiring. No need to make unwise decisions because the SEC just dropped the mic.

Taking Kansas is a panic move the ACC would take. It's better B1G take the wait-and-see approach. Let them come to B1G.

If I'm a Big Ten President or AD, I will only admit any new member if my school gets as much or more afterwards. If the networks won't give us additional compensation to make up for it, we're just dividing the pie 15 or 16 ways instead of 14. I want Pittsburgh in the Big Ten. But even if the ACC GOR wasn't there, if that is going to take money away from Penn State, Illinois, Ohio State, etc, no deal.

Agree with only adding if it makes money. The people who think the Big Ten is going to add Iowa State are either trolls or idiots. Even if Kevin Warren is a terrible commissioner, the university presidents have to be smart enough to realize these things. But they have done a lot of things pretty questionable lately so I'm losing faith.

No, adding two schools at least makes a little sense as that way there can be two divisions of 8 or four pods of 4. He will advocate for three additions to bring the number up to 17 and try to keep divisions or pods.

Never mind ISU, even taking Kansas is a panic move right now. The only way it is not, is if the BIG can attract ND or add ND size whale to go along. I don't see that happening. Even UK with OSU or Mizzu right now rings of Plan B. There are only three moves that make the BIG look like it out did the SEC and comes out a winner.
1. Out bid the SEC for Texas and Oklahoma - personally I don't want Texas as it is a proven cancer in any conference it joins, but I'd take OU.
2. Steal aTm & Mizzu from the SEC - both fled the B12 because of Tx and are not happy to be back in a conference with them. Getting aTm in a raid of the SEC would be ultimate feather in BIG cap.
3. Go all out and add aTm, Mizzu, KU and OSU. That would show the SEC that we just pissed down its neck.
Personally, I don't think the BIG should do anything right away. It should hold and wait to counter. If nothing better materializes, UK and ISU will still be there for the 15 and 16 spots.

If you want ND to come I think you get USC to come. Mizzou by itself is not worth it, but could come along with Texas A&M but I think that is a stretch. A&M's complaining is probably just posturing for their fan base.
Honestly, I think the B1G would have a better chance of changing OU & UT's mind with the right 4-6 schools involving USC and possibly ND now or the commitment down the road than getting Texas A&M. I would have thought the B1G under that scenario had an upper hand due to academics but the B1G seems to have shot themselves in the foot with Covid last fall. Maybe UT & OU realize the politics of the SEC is a lot better than the B1G and adding west coast schools might look good academically but don't help the politics.

What does Kansas actually bring to the table??? Basketball..... There is at least four schools in a better spot than Kansas right now in basketball. Outside of that the rest of that...... nothing.

I am surprised there was no indication that the B1G made a play for Texas this past week.
If I was the B1G commish, the moment the Houston Chronicle story broke last week I would have been on the phone to the Texas Chancellor lobbying for the B1G instead of the SEC.

Maybe there’s enough dissention among the ranks to get Warren canned before he does any real damage. Ohio St and Nebraska would both vote to give him the boot.
