Jeffers back to majors - Proff - 06-03-2021 08:51 AM

The Twins called Ryan Jeffers back up yesterday & he started against the Orioles last night. He went 2 for 4 with a homer, triple & two RBIs.

Helluva way to respond to the call up.

I kind of feel about him like i do Cacok all they have done is produce in their limited chances, i think both deserve more.

I'm confident Cacok will get chances for more minutes, I just don't know if it will be with the Lakers or somewhere else, but he'll will himself into being a long-term role player in the NBA.

Jeffers is a different story. As a 2nd round pick who the Twins are investing in, there's less uncertainty there. He's one of their top 10 overall prospects, has made huge progress ever since he got drafted, and there's no doubt that they want him to be their long-term Catcher, starting as early as now and probably no later than 2022.

With Garver, now 30 years old struggling this season (and in the short 2020 season) and then getting hurt, the door is wide open for him, and I imagine he has a shot of not going back to the minors again any time soon if he takes advantage this year. Or, if he goes back to the minors this year, that might be the last time he does so in the long-term. In other words, Garver's days as the primary Twins' catcher were already numbered and may soon be over. Maybe he'll even get traded prior to the trade deadline?

I wasn't trying to compare their entire situations, just that when they have been given a shot, they have produced that's it.

I know you weren't. Just pointing out that I agree that all they do is produce and that they will both get their shots; it'll just be a tougher road for Cacok, even though he's worked incredibly hard and shown a lot of improvement over time.

With Jeffers its just a matter of time before he's a regular starter in the bigs. I'm sure he'll take full opportunity of the chance he's about to get and it may well be that his time has already come.

Garver underwent surgery yesterday so his absence will be an extended one. It will require at least "a few weeks" to recover, according to the team.

Bigtime opportunity for Jeffers here and he's already taking advantage of it with back-to-back multi-hit games. Awesome.

Looked at his last 15 days which is essentially when he got called up. .286 & 4 bombs, pretty damn solid.

I didn't realize (or maybe I just forgot) until I just looked it up: Jeffers is the first and only Seahawk so far to ever homer in the majors. He's up to 7 career HR's. He's reached that number in just 128 ABs.

Had no idea. That’s awesome. He’s definitely been mashing the ball and taking full advantage of the call up opportunity. Hopefully this is the one that keeps him up.

He has easy power the way it looks. Hope he sticks because he’s shown what he’s capable of out there.

Someone pointed out, can’t remember where that he made some changes to his swing, finishing two hands now vs one, seems to have worked out well

After a slump that brought his batting average below .200, Jeffers went 3 for 4 last night against the angels. He drove in the tying run in the bottom of the 8th.
