Said it before, but highly likely it shifts to Friday for that to happen.

Going to Jonesboro, then Boone, then hosting Troy, and then a short week before going to Statesboro is going to be a pretty brutal stretch.

That and 6 weekday games on the year. Ouch.

I hope AState never schedules another Pac12 school unless P12 gets a decent tv deal.

It must have been on one of the Pac12 network channels? And we thought the CUSA games were hard to find?

Nothing liking sucking, all out games are on ESPN+ and ESPN3. Even the Baylor game. It is a shame.

It looks like the SBC is going to get a lot of ESPN time this fall. That’s good for you all. I had asked this question over on the MAC board a while back and I’ll do the same here.

Does playing that many weeknight games have an effect on your fanbase? I notice App State for example, has to play Louisiana and Coastal on a Tuesday/Wednesday. It’s great to get the tv time, but do you feel the trade off is worth it?

Personally, I think it is worth it, but I would worry over time it would take a toll on the fanbase and start seeing attendance issues. I don’t guess there is a good option for us G5er’s. Either play mid week on tv or play on the weekends buried on some off channel or streaming service.

At this level, we want both TV and Saturday home attendance, but we cant have both. It hurts without a doubt and does effect the fans that want to attend the games. It also helps grow new fans that were not as familiar with the program. as for long term, as long as you keep winning on a high level, the fan base should stay engaged, even with increased midweek games. now if you perform on the level of above average, i think it becomes a big problem and could stop growth within the fan base.

Well, the UL game is at their place. The two weeknight games we have at home are Marshall and Coastal. Yeh, the attendance will only be around 20-22k which is lower than it would be on Saturday (especially the Marshall game) but winning on a weekday on ESPN in prime time gets more national attention than Saturday games and I think have helped App get more votes in the polls over the last few years.

RE: 2021 Football TV Schedule - Yosef Himself - 05-29-2021 08:40 AM

So far the SBC members as hosts have these scheduled:

6 games on ESPNU
3 games on ESPN2
4 games on ESPN

This is just the first three weeks of the season plus the midweek games. Extra TV games will be announced as the season progresses. I would bet we get 5-7 more ESPN TV games.

It's tough. We have Army Sept 4th at noon on ESPNU. Knowing our fanbase and Atlantans, I expect the time to keep many away. You generally cant get people to anything at noon Saturday around here. Its a holiday weekend, will likely be hot as hades and there a billion other things to do in Atlanta on a weekend like that. But its on ESPNU so there is that.

RE: 2021 Football TV Schedule - Usajags - 05-29-2021 12:14 PM

Looking at our schedule, even though it’s not shown, I’d expect our game at Tennessee to be on the SEC Network.
