One would guess that an old friend that is currently at Pitt has already made a call.

Totally expected.

Thanks, Big O.

Not so sure about that. Owen was a Laycock recruit and played one year while Marion was here.

Easy assumption that he’s leaving because he wasn’t going to get enough carries for his liking. Doubtful he will find more at a place like Pitt.

Good luck O! Wherever you end up, do WM proud!

More accurate to title this "Owen Wright Graduating." The expectation for players to stay for grad school at the same college is only realistic in certain situations.

True. But he did just announce, the day before the Elon game, that he was accepted into a Mason School of Business graduate program.

I'm sure he's been applying for grad schools knowing that he's graduating. I don't think he's really an NFL prospect so no better way to get a free grad degree.

Monmouth, from what I've seen, is the only school to offer him and I'm not sure it's a scholarship. Step down in competition and he'll have to earn his stripes. Seems he really just wanted to move on.

I'm not sure that Monmouth would consider themselves a step down in competition. They have made the FCS playoffs 3 out of the last 4 years and the year they didn't make it they were 8-3. This year they were 3-1 and they lost on the road to Sam Houston State in the playoffs by only 21-15. In 2019 they were 11-3 and they won a playoff game against Holy Cross before getting whacked by JMU. In 2017 they were 9-3 and lost in the playoffs to Northern Iowa (we've done that too).

So I get your point ...but Monmouth has got a nice little playoff tradition building there. A transfer could do worse.

Definitely not a step down he way London is trending. I have been to a game there before good consistent attendance with students actually engaged. Looks like a nice 2021 schedule too. Hope we get some transfers in needed areas and have a plan if Mathis has a slow recovery

No idea about their student engagement but they don't draw much and play in a small stadium (4200 capacity). They went 11-3 in 2019 and averaged 2400 per home game. Biggest crowd was 3400 for their homecoming.

You're kidding right? How London is trending? He hasn't coached enough here to have a trend. Comes in and a player is murdered. Coaches team to a 3-1 finish to 2019. A pandemic keeps us from playing in 2020. Has three games in the Spring of 2021 playing every other week. Loses a close one in 4th quarter to a good Richmond team, trounces an awful Elon team and gets smoked as usual by JMU. There's no trend. The guy hasn't even had a chance to really coach a team.

On this note, Coach London noted on the season end recap Zoom chat that we have a QB coming in thru the transfer portal.

No detail aside from that, but that's likely their plan (I'd assume similar to a Kilton Anderson -- but hey, they might surprise us).

Owen Wright Transferring - Tribal - 05-26-2021 05:53 PM

Winning the Big South is fine, but a middle of the pack (4-4 in conference) CAA team would win that conference most seasons. It's a step down.

London has been great in the face of disastrous circumstances.

Owen has transferred to Monmouth, per his IG page.

Good opportunity for Owen. He graduated and moved on.

At least 3 very promising RBs on our 2021 roster and a few we haven't seen. After Imoh's All State spring season and Lester's proven ability, the competition for rock carrier will be intense. Monmouth's stud RB, RSo Farri, isn't about to give up many carries.

Saw a tweet about Owen today and decided to see how he’s doing.
