Thanks for the update.

Duke is 11-10 and Indiana has a losing record. Neither school has any business being ahead or in the same category of either Memphis or SMU.

There's a possibility, although a small one, the aac could get four bids. Or get one. Going to be interesting.

Memphis beating Houston would be huge for them. Now the league might be trading more slots for a lower seeding for Houston in the long run.

Getting 4 would be amazing for this year.

Lunardi is selling clicks right now and Duke and Indiana get clicks. Like the bracket before conference tournaments is when his accuracy will jump.

Memphis has a good chance of making it. SMU won't, hell I think Jank has decided like SMU's women that the men are done and we won't see them back on the floor. Jank and Haith need fired.

Memphis appeared in ESPN's Bubble Watch for the first time today, joining SMU and Wichita State in "work to do" (Houston is listed as a lock). https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/insider/story/_/id/30864224/ncaa-tournament-bubble-watch-indiana-slumping-bid-make-cut#AAC

Lunardi is not the NCAA Comity... I don't think is all that great at predicting the brackets, according to him the AAC would never had more than 2.

Memphis is the second best team in the conference. WSU has the second best NCAA tournament resume by traditional metrics. WSU also looks even better in SOR/WAB which are metrics I wish the committee would focus on instead of trying to subjectively compare wins/losses vs. the various quads.

How Subjective is a 20 point loss...

But honestly if WSU makes the Tourney final the only way Memphis gets in ahead of WSU is if Memphis beats Houston in the regular season.

If Memphis Loses to Houston in the regular season and beats Houston in the tourney...Well whoever wins the final game between WSU and Memphis gets the AutoQ so it wont matter.

RE: Bracketology (3/3) Memphis and SMU "next 4 out." - Memphis Yankee - 03-03-2021 11:47 PM

I think Memphis and Houston have the most talent, but Houston is easily the better team. If eye test was the only metric, I'd rank the top four....Houston, Memphis, SMU, Wichita State. I'm not taking anything away from SMU or Wichita by putting Memphis ahead of them, but I think Memphis has a higher ceiling. Not much higher but a little higher.

It may be a comfort to note that ESPN is 1 of only 8 bracketologies that have Duke in the NCAA tournament at this point.

The other 126 bracketologies at bracketmatrix.com don't have Duke in.

Moreover, Duke's average seeding in the few bracketologies they appear in is a very low 11.75.

Indiana is in 10 bracketologies, with an average seed of 11.50, and doesn't appear at all in 124 bracketologies.

Both will have to win some conf. tournament games to get into the NCAA.

#9 Duke would play #8 Syracuse, and if they were to beat the Orange, they would then have to play the #1 team (#11 FSU or #21 Virginia).

Best case scenario in my opinion is a Wichita State vs Anyone but Houston final in the AAC tournament, with Wichita losing, that would guarantee Wichita and a third team in.

RE: Bracketology (3/3) Memphis and SMU "next 4 out." - mustangxc - 03-04-2021 11:53 AM

I think if SMU beats Memphis in the final Memphis, Houston, and SMU would get in too. Wichita State might still get in under that scenario by way of being regular season champion of a multi-bid league.
