With the weather this week, I expect a bunch of schedule adjustments. I don't see any way we can play Missouri State until Sunday at the earliest.

Looking more like the Snowbelt Conference.

RE: Baseball Opening Weekend - ballantyneapp - 02-15-2021 12:19 PM

I hate that we nixed soccer and kept baseball.

BLASPHEMY!!!!

Although I do wish we would bring back men’s soccer at South.

There is a general agreement among Sun Belt schools that they will not drop their baseball programs despite the financial issues.

Baseball is the #3 college sport in the south IMO and might be slowly closing in on #2 (it's probably already #2 in Louisiana). You can't be a southern FBS school and not have it.

Does App classify as Southern though?

Considering baseball is pretty big with UNC, NC State, ECU, etc... I'd say it's definitely the #3 sport among most NC schools.

RE: Baseball Opening Weekend - Tealblood - 02-15-2021 04:28 PM

with Duke being #16 right now as well as those mentioned

Its big in most of NC

Even though we have only been good in baseball a handful of times in the last 15ish years we have a beautiful stadium

However I'd love soccer to be back. Bad.

The entire conference plays baseball but hardly anyone has soccer. Plus we don't technically even own our soccer stadium.

I would also like to say that App has a beautiful field. I hope to make a series one day. I wish all schools could sponsor men’s soccer as well.

Jaguars Opening Weekend Changes

Season opening tournament at Southeastern Louisiana has been cancelled for this weekend. But the Jaguar coaching staff quickly picked up Southeast Missouri State for a three game series. Friday - 3:00, Saturday - 1:00 and Sunday - 2:00.

RE: Baseball Opening Weekend - chiefsfan - 02-16-2021 09:59 PM

AState's opening series with Missouri State in Jonesboro has been Snowpocalypsed out. It has been converted to a 2 game midweek series that will be played in Mid March.

Apparently we don't have the man power to clear a foot of snow off the baseball field in 48 hours with temperatures in the teens. Imagine that.

RE: Baseball Opening Weekend - Yosef Himself - 02-17-2021 10:19 AM

We've got some ASU branded snowplows you could use. Wrong color scheme though.

RE: Baseball Opening Weekend - slycat - 02-17-2021 02:52 PM

TXST moved Fridays BYU game to Tuesday

I always figured Boone was a liberal town like Boulder, CO.

Not quite on that level (that's more Asheville) but Boone itself is pretty liberal. The rest of Watauga County... Not so much. Reliably blue in elections overall, but close margins.
