AAC Basketball is back! - BcatMatt13 - 11-25-2020 12:22 PM

In typical fashion South Florida is losing to a school named Florida College 46-42 at halftime.

What the hell is Florida College?

Isn’t that the sweatshirt Belushi wore in Animal House?

I'm sure they're at least a top-5 NAIA team. 07-coffee3

Logan Johnson and MT Mary's vs Memphis on ESPN2 right now.

RE: AAC Basketball is back! - robertfoshizzle - 11-25-2020 02:17 PM

Ohio State up on Illinois State 22-0 early. Ouch. The Redbirds are usually at least decent.

Tuned in just in time to see Logan turn the ball over. At least he's getting playing time though.

It's UCF trying to lose the "directional school" tag.

Illinois State hasn't been allowed to practice much. 8 players have tested positive for COVID at different times, and contact tracing has repeatedly forced most of the team into quarantine.

ISU was going to be a young team to begin with, with 7 freshmen and 4 new transfers. So they needed the practice. Then three weeks ago, ISU's best player announced he was sitting out the season due to COVID concerns.

Also, their starting center didn't make the trip to Columbus.

I bet kids tell who go there tell everyone they go to Florida. Their parents too.

For kicks, I looked the school up and it only has 500 students. Yikes

Memphis looks really good. Up 19 on St. Mary’s early second half.

I’m surprised you are even allowed to schedule a NAIA school for a real game. Not sure how they can even factor into SOS and other metrics. NAIA teams are normally like a middlin’ high school team.

We lucked out with his transfer. Decent enough athlete to be our back-up PG this year but would hate our offense with him seeing 30 minutes a night and not being able to hit a shot further than 5 feet from the hoop.

Big 12 starts off just like football. Kansas State loses at home to Drake.

I'm fairly certain they don't count at all in the RPI. I don't know if that is the case with BPI or Kenpom, but I would imagine so.

They don't count for anything. You'll see a number of teams from anything outside of Major conference teams schedule games like this from college no one outside the area has heard of, just so they can get a home game and sell some tickets. It definitely is rare at the AAC level, but I think teams are just trying to get games on the schedule.

In other non-current AAC news, former Bearcat Prince Toyambi had 9 & 10 today for Georgia Southern.

2-8 shooting, 5 rebounds, 1 assist to 4 turnovers is the line I was expecting to see.

I need skyblade to do some hepsplaining on why his stat line doesn't tell the whole story.

Whoa... that photo of a skinny Huggins somebody had a while back was clearly a fraud.

He's blimpier than ever.

Eliel Nsoseme is playing now for Georgia State against Ga. Tech.
