Group of Lefty Millionaires Plotting Vicious Attack on Trump's SCOTUS Nominee - CrimsonPhantom - 09-25-2020 03:09 PM

Quote:A left-wing group of political activists is planning to tear down the president's nominee for the Supreme Court, no matter who he picks. Their plan: whatever it takes.

The group, Patriotic Millionaires, penned an open letter on their website imploring Democrat leaders like Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, to "take a stand" and do anything in their power to "permanently discredit" whoever Trump nominates to the bench. (Emphasis included in original copy)

You clearly lack the legislative power to stop the morally-bankrupt Republican hypocrites in the U.S. Senate from confirming a far-right ideologue to a lifetime appointment on the Supreme Court just days before the most divisive and consequential election in American history.

This unfortunate reality demands that you embrace the inescapable moral and constitutional obligation you have to use every power at your disposal to brand this corrupt process as the illegitimate farce it is and to discredit permanently the judicial fitness of any nominee who agrees to be a part of it. Any nominee willing to be considered or confirmed by this sham process is definitionally unfit to serve in the United States Supreme Court.

The group of activists, helmed by founder and president Erica Payne, describes themselves as an organization of wealthy Americans focused on "power and money." Their self-description says it all:

The Patriotic Millionaires is a group of high-net worth Americans who share a profound concern about the destabilizing level of inequality in America. Our work centers on the two things that matter most in a capitalist democracy: power and money. Our goal is to ensure that the country’s political economy is structured to meet the needs of regular Americans, rather than just millionaires. We focus on three “first” principles: a highly progressive tax system, a livable minimum wage, and equal political representation for all citizens.

(Graphic language warning)

On a Thursday conference call, Payne underscored the group's exuberance to ruin any person who the president might consider to replace the late Justice Ginsburg on the Supreme Court. She tasked Senate Democrats and activists with "mak[ing] this an unbelievably painful process for Senate Republicans” and “kick[ing] the f--- out of” Democratic senators who won’t fight hard enough," according to a report from the Washington Examiner.

She assessed that the current rhetoric being spouted by Congressional Democrats fell short of what they needed to be doing and considered their weakness to be “utter bulls--t."

The group demanded that Senate Democrats take a number of steps in the days to come as an effort to thwart the confirmation of Trump's nominee and disrupt the constitutional process. Suggested actions included:

Boycott the confirmation hearings entirely;
Block the typically-proforma ‘Unanimous Consent’ agreements that set the daily schedule and the terms of conduct for Senate business, including any resolutions to adjourn the Senate;
Repeatedly force your Republican colleagues to produce the quorum of 51 Senators necessary to conduct Senate business on their own.
With that effort, however, even Patriotic Millionaires predicted that the Republicans would be successful in their duties to fill the Supreme Court vacancy. But to the group, that didn't mean that Democrats in the Senate should not do everything they can to try to sabotage their effort and destroy the life of whoever was nominated.

Directing the entirety of their sentiment to the 45 Democrats and two left-wing Independents in the Senate, the Patriotic Millionaires said they have the duty to act against the duly elected president and abandon their sworn oath to the people of the United States to uphold the law of the Constitution.

"To be clear, you no longer have the option to stand idly by and wait for things to ‘play out.’ You are risking the integrity of our country’s most sacred values, institutions, and system of democracy itself if you confer legitimacy on a nakedly corrupt, profoundly illegitimate process. Sincerely, Every Decent American."

Now THAT'S rich.... a group of rich white elitists claiming to be morally superior.... fearing that their wealthy daughters won't be able to get their precious abortions.

You simply can't make this crap up, huh?

If this is valid, I think this would justify a national boycott of their companies.
Doxx them, boycott them.

I deal with a lot of rich people in my profession. One of the first things I look at when considering loan requests is schedule A of the tax returns. Scan down to charitable contributions and then back to the supporting schedule to see where the donations go, if there are any.

I believe this tells you a lot about a person and it always amazes me how many high six figure and seven figure income folks donate nothing,’or relatively nothing, to the needy. My guess is that this group has a lot of folks like that. They may donate, but not to things like food banks and kid programs for inner city youths.

If they don't play constitutional hardball on this the way that we all know McConnell would I'm never voting for these bunch of sheepdogs for corporate interests named the Democrats ever again.

Uhhh, what constitutional hardball. This is about as clear as it gets. SCOTUS seat becomes available, POTUS has the OBLIGATION to put forth a nominee, just as zerO did, senate to either confirm or reject.

Garland would have been rejected. Barrett will be confirmed.

What’s the hardball all about?

Hardball is changing the rules (aka the constitution) as they go along to fit their current agenda.

and yet they have the audacity of calling themselves "patriots". What a laugh. Another laugh: Millionaires voting for Socialists. Now that IS funny.

RE: Group of Lefty Millionaires Plotting Vicious Attack on Trump's SCOTUS Nominee - MileHighBronco - 09-25-2020 07:38 PM

I heard that Rush Limbaugh suggested that, due to the way the dems attacked, smeared and turned the confirmation hearings for Kavanaugh into a circus, that the GOP should do something novel.

Don't even bother holding the hearings, thus cutting off the smear machine before it gets cranked up. Just schedule a vote.

Seems that the Constitution does not mandate hearings, just that a vote be held.

Wouldn't that make dems heads explode.

"Cleanup on aisle 3."

Hardball would be the things listed here. Basically stalling tactics. They could impeach Barr, Trump again, the Senate runs on unanimous consent so just object to every single thing McConnell wants to do. Serious question, do you think if the Dems had the opportunity to get 6-3 "liberal" justices that McConnell wouldn't pull out every single thing within his power to stop it? He deserves credit as much as I hate him, he understands power and how to use it.

I care nothing about winning you or anyone over on this, this is a line in the sand for me. Dems have told me my entire fu*king life I have to vote for their sh*t candidates to "save the court" and if they don't put up a real fight to delay this by any means necessary I will never vote for a single one of these fu*kers ever again. I'm holding onto my mail in ballot and I'll burn it if the only "fight" they put up is trying to "appeal to Republican's conscious."

While the perception is that when the GOP approves of Trump's nominee, it will create a 6 - 3 conservative majority on the court but the reality is that it will be a 5 - 4 majority. Roberts is no conservative and will vote often with the liberals.

Absolutely, the dems would go for it if the opportunity presented itself.

Shocked there are no minorities in this group. Shocked I am, nothing but White Liberal Elites.

This is what happens when the economy starts lifting the masses these elites lord over. Can’t have the commoners leaving their plantation. Who’ll feed them and drive them around?

Wow. What a diverse and inclusive lineup. That group is whiter than a flour factory.

I'll bet they need a proctologist to translate just so they can all talk to each other.

Brilliant pick. The imminent attacks and anti Catholic dog whistles are going to solidify Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin for Trump.

McConnell would stall, but wouldn't do any of those other abuses of the system. Republicans believe in the constitution, not just making things up as you go along.

Predictable, but gross attack on ACB.
