Dome Day - orangefan - 09-18-2020 07:24 AM

Today is the day that the Carrier Dome is supposed to be ready for football to be played. As of this morning, there are a couple of fabric panels that still need to be completed. The Jumbotron scoreboard has been raised inside the Dome. I've not read whether the field has been put down. That is supposed to be one of the last things done before completion. Of course, there will be lots of work left to do even when it's ready for this season, with renovations not fully complete until the 2022 season.

Looks like a UFO landed on top of a hotel.

Looks like a roller coaster was built on top of it.

Apparently this Sunday is the 40th anniversary of the opening of the dome, too.

Or, in the style of Green...

As of 5 pm, the final panels of the roof are installed, but workers are still performing some tasks around them, perhaps sealing the seams. This morning there were a few dozen wrapped white bundles outside the service gate that are now gone. I'm assuming that those were the field turf and that it is now installed or being installed. Still no presser or news story on the completion of the work.

Interested to see the inside. Is the hoops set up going to be the same?

* no, not really - sorry, Green.

I think it looks like the dome suffered a neck injury and is in one of those halo collars.

Wait until they install the roller coaster during Phase 2.

The team will hold their first practice inside on Thursday morning

Guys that’s awesome. I look forward to seeing it the next time Louisville travels to Syracuse in normal times.

Hopefully they raise the scoreboard...it could make games really interesting though if they keep it down.

Even when it's raised, it looks to me like it might get hit by a punt.
