How does the 2020 season affecting 2021 recruiting? - emu steve - 09-17-2020 03:36 PM I believe that the NCAA has indicated that because of the truncated 2020 season, whether it be a fall or spring season, players will get an extra year of eligibility (i.e., pretend that the 2020 season 'never happened.'). How does this impact recruiting? Assuming a team has say 80 - 85 scholarship players and say 20 are 2020 seniors. Any or all of them can come back on scholarship in 2021. Now if a school has verbals for say 15 - 20 recruits for 2021, then that school could be looking at say 100 scholarship players for ONE season, 2021. Curious how individual head coaches will handle this situation? I don't know if it is just happenstance but EMU is filling recruiting slots slowly. Just a guess but I doubt we would max out at say 100 scholarships. Will less FBS scholarships be awarded for 2021 than a 'normal' year?
