Exactly. LOI controls. He could have signed the financial aid package and not LOI???

I guess verbal agreements are being NIL-ifed. 03-banghead

Circling back, is there a reason why a supposedly signed LOI isn't being honored?
(assuming it was signed by May 18, which is only 2 weeks ago).

This one is a strange one.

Look at his Twitter feed

So he never signed with us? We added him to the roster even though he didn't sign????

https://twitter.com/RivalsPortal/status/1532172372249350147?s=20&t=fAWbaxveVVyeEuLtnhwU4Q

Did he commit late (around Easter) but never sign?

https://ypsilantieleven.substack.com/p/vidal-scotts-focused-on-having-fun?s=w

Well Scott Jr isn't going to be with us. I thought he was the key addition to our defense we needed this upcoming season besides our LBs. Miles is a solid add as well. So now at this late stage we need another DT in the rotation. And with Haney out for the upcoming year who is going to step up? I think there's alot more to the Scott Jr story that will come out. But why are guys committing to us and then decomitting after filming videos with our team etc.

Time to hit the portal or JUCO ranks hard for a D-tackle. (Rough week for Collett)
Preferably a DT that is not just a space eater, but one that can move. The good news..... I still am REALLY high on Melvin Swindle who I think will end up grading higher than Vidal. The issue with Melvin is that he will only be in his second year, but this dude was a very high recruit for us. Also on the younger but talented side is Carter Evans. Don't be surprised if these 2 end up being playmakers for us this season.

I'm trying to find the positives and while I dont think our defense will be excellent given our lousy 4-2-5 scheme, I do think we have better players this season....
(David Carter is a year older, we get Benson the safety back from injury last year amnd remember he was an all-league player at previous school, upgrades at LB with Sparacio and Kline, Swindle and Evans, the new DE Sterling Miles). We didnt lose anyone outside of Turan Rush and Myrick who were good players. I think we will be improved on that side of the ball. Last season we gave up 197 rushing yards per game (3rd from last in the MAC) and gave up 233 passing yds per game which was around the lower-middle in the MAC. IF.....we can improve a few spots in those areas, it will put less pressure on our new QB and propel us to what I hope is an 7-5 or hopefully an 8-4 season.

I think the answer is simple. Guys commit to EMU (or any other similar level program) as an insurance policy. Then if a higher profile program comes calling they switch.

I understand. It's different if the guy signs a binding LOI and then wants to switch schools.

I think we all understand the issues here (there are two):

1). Did he sign on or before May 18?

2). When he signed did he sign BOTH the financial aid agreement AND LOI?

Assuming Scott did sign (or why would he be listed on the 2022 roster), why isn't he bound to us?

1). Did he sign after May 18?

2). Did he NOT sign the LOI (but only the financial aid agreement)?

And #2 raises this question: Why would a school sign a player to a financial aid agreement and not require him to sign the LOI?

It is certainly POSSIBLE, but it is a terrible deal for the school.

One more did TCU "coach" him on finding any loopholes?

It's too in today's NCAA wild west world coaches with ethics like CC get screwed by other coaches and yes players.

Seems like a very odd situation. As of right now (10:30 AM on June 3rd) Scott is still listed on official roster on EMU's website.

Keep an eye on Max Stege 6'5 250 a DE from Cologne Germany. He recently was a SMU camp and Sam Houston State offered him.

Sorry, '79, I'm black crepe on recruiting this late on the '22 recruiting season.

We are probably looking at PWO-caliber recruits and that to me is meh.

There are at least two offers out there to a JUCO and a Transfer each of whom would be a nice addition to the O-Line. There are still some diamonds to be had....

Yep let's let the coaching staff do their job
