What is interesting (or maybe I need a better word) is how SLOW the Twitter posts have been from recruits. I haven't heard the name of any scholarship recruit who hasn't already committed. Maybe some more have visited but there is a 'news blackout.'

Are we prepared for a very small December recruiting class with the real action happening after bowl games when players will decide to move on and sign in February?

Still a fair number of high school and jucos we offered uncommitted. With all the transfers to be decided and coaching changes they may choose to wait until February.

EMU Steve, and EMU79, I agree with both of your assessments/opinions, yes we've A very high average per recruit, but only having 5 signed is a concern, many other MAC schools have 13, 15, etc already signed! CC records after 8 seasons aren't helping either! We've not sniffed the MAC West championship yet either! During CC 8 years, every MAC West team has won the West except us, that speaks volumes to recruits! Also, CC doesn't take any risks as well on a marginal young man! Year NINE, and we'll finish probably 7th or below in MAC recruiting! But, everyone on this board loves CC, and mediocrity, except A few people! We gave him an extension for average everything! Recruiting, and MAC record! If Akron finishes higher then us this recruiting class, then to me that tells me everything! They're currently #12 in MAC recruiting! We're 9th..........

If I were a high-school kid I would sign as soon as possible. If they wait until February there's a good chance that the team that offered will pull the offer in favor of a transfer kid. He who hesitates is lost.

I suspect that Eastern it's basically done with high schoolers for this class and is holding onto the open scholarships for transfers.

Agree. I don't expect a big h..s. class.

I have heard NOTHING about mid-year JUCOs. Anyone have available scholarships???

Recruits are learning fast what the real world is like. Things change. Covid and Super Seniors and transfers.

Like I said before those rankings are based as much on quantity as quality. Based on the average score per recruit emu has the #1 class in the MAC.

I agree with you, 'Nickle. If we end up with say 8 - 10 H.S. recruits and 'all are 3-star' recruits and the rest of the class are FBS/FCS transfers we will have had a very good class.

As we have discussed many times, with so many 'Super Seniors' it is very difficult to determine the number of available scholarships freed up by seniors as well as 'knowing the unknowable' i.e., those who will transfer or drop out.

One would literally need to go through a list of say 100 players and determine if they have further eligibility and if they are scholarship or not and guess which ones, on scholarship, will come back.

The other wild card is: Do we have any 2021/2 scholarships which were unused? If so, those could be given to a mid-year transfer or mid-year JUCO.

Again this is the type of information only those inside the program would know.

That is a daunting task fraught with error for us to do. Wild guess: Next week say 5 - 8. Total for the two signing periods say 12 - 15. If we go toward the high end or over, that might mean a lot of transfer losses which isn't good. (I assume C.C. will give out the scholarships of the 2 scholarship players who are transferring out).

RE: Unofficial 2022 Football Recruiting Thread - emu79 - 12-10-2021 06:34 AM

Adding to this, do any of the PWOs get scholarships, were there any blue shirts that get scholarships? I suspect we will see more PWOs announced on signing day.

Recruiting is now a 365 day endless chess match of moving pieces around the board.

For those who go through depth charts, etc. etc. are there any PWOs who made the 2-deeps in 2021? If so, they get scholarships. That's the usual rule of thumb.

Can't think of any off the top of my head.

I'm a broke record with getting to the top tier and trying g to build EMU to a high G5 program. You only do that with high end recruits which means more 3 stars. While I don't love the numbers, I agree with you that the quality we have and the low numbers might suggest we are getting really good players with a good chance of a lot of portal or JUCO plug and play guys that get us over the hump. Perhaps it's a good thing that the numbers are low.... what does CC have up his sleeve for the portal? Hey, he did it with Jarret Paul, Jason and Ben this last yr.

Yeah, but remember most (almost all? all?) of our seniors are Super Seniors and their departure after Saturday bowl game does NOT yield any free scholarships.

Most of the free scholarships will come from departures from the program, mostly by transferring or quitting the program.

Seems like something might be going on with a commit. Some positive comments from coaches on twitter.

??????????????????

I'm not aware of anything. I think things are crazy this year. Players may have taken their ONE official visit to EMU early and now the coaches are doing a home visit.

Otherwise, no rumors I am aware.

My guess is a big WR commit maybe Aaron Rice or another 6'4 or 6'5 WR.

RE: Unofficial 2022 Football Recruiting Thread - emu steve - 12-12-2021 02:14 PM

Could be. Rice de-commited from Navy earlier this fall.

EDIT: I have no indications that he has visited.

Could also be Maliak Bogard a DE from Oklahoma.

EMU official visit.
