All these schools currently talking with others to schedule games

What a dream scenario for JMU.

There's always the argument that these teams would not schedule JMU. That's the excuse that we always hear---that teams won't schedule us because they'd rather face a patsy. I don't know how much I believe that---I believe there is some truth to it---but far less truth than JMU claims.

JMU's decision to base whether they would play a 2020 fall season or not, exclusively on if there were an FCS post season, is proof (to me anyway) that they are firmly comfortable in FCS.

I thought JMU should have scheduled an FBS heavy independent schedule, regardless of whether there were FCS playoffs or not, and even if they were the only FCS team to play. But that's because I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to have a successful season and use it as a springboard to a move up to the FBS. It's clear JMU has outgrown the FCS and more significantly the CAA.

But it seems that JMU is abundantly satisfied and comfortable with their FCS bully boy model. And if they are intent to stay FCS for life then their decision to cancel fall football is completely in line with their vision. I felt that IF there was a season, JMU had to play---But now there is no season, so it doesn't matter. Hopefully there is a spring season

There's something to be said on JMU not willing to put their eggs in an FBS independent basket this season, if JMU believes it's too risky a gamble to play a season that they believe will eventually be cancelled. With the entire FCS basically cancelling the season, JMU is now off the hook

Hopefully their conservative approach will pay off and JMU will be in a better place after the dust settles on this season. With the entire FCS basically cancelling the season, JMU is now off the hook. If there was ever a time to monitor the situation, I guess it's now during this covid-19 crisis

I could go the rest of my life without hearing that phrase and be happy.

DukeThaDawg is spot on imho. Try to schedule as many FBS teams as possible...especially this year while there is opportunity to do so. This is the best way to see where JMU would stack up in the FBS world without it really costing anything It would paint a decent picture.

How long will it take until all of fall college football is cancelled?

Not long. These OH JMU SHOULD JOIN A REAL CONFERENCE THAT'S PLAYING ACTUAL FOOTBALL THIS FALL posts are going to age about as well as hot takes on this board from March.

A wise old man once said, "A short decade ago we had 30 million infected and around 13,000 deaths from the last 'exotic' flu strain to pop up. Everyone remember the hysteria around that? Yea, vaguely. We have 1500 infected and 40 deaths. Did we cancel March madness and WXSW 10 years ago? Nope."

I think all but maybe the top 2 G5 conference will try to force a season no matter what in the fall. So that's MWC and AAC. They don't want to admit they're on a level below the P5.

I think the seven remaining conferences will try and last 4 weeks tops before their rosters are so injury and CoVID depleted that they're finally forced to face the music. Some people will die along the way.

They won't push it past the fall until it gets too bad to overlook anymore in the name of money.

I say early October, it'll get really interesting.

This is outstanding news. Now Dukeman2 can cheer for his favorite teams and stop masquerading as the JMU fan everyone knows he isn't. Have fun!

Dukeman is going to be sad to have paid so much attention to odu, App state, Charlotte and Marshall practices when they won’t be playing in 2020 either.

Then I guess that makes Curt Cignetti and Kevin Warner liars. 01-wingedeagle

FBS teams schedule FCS games for the revenue from another home game and most likely a win that counts towards bowl eligibility. With no fans allowed why would any FBS school want to schedule a top tier FCS? There is a significant chance they may lose especially with the offseason being as messed up as it is and with most schools only playing 1 OOC game they are going to take the easiest win possible.

All of this doesnt matter now but as many on this board seem to forget, it takes both schools to agree to play a game
