Big East 2020-2021 Predictions - BraveKnight - 05-03-2020 03:37 PM

What are your predictions for the Big East this season? What order do you predict the teams will finish in?

I'm a little unfamiliar with the conference still but it seems really up in the air overall. I think Nova is a logical preseason favorite, with Creighton and Seton Hall rounding out the top 3. Other than that, DePaul in last is probably the safest bet. It's a tossup for teams finishing 4-10.

I've seen multiple outlets predicting UConn 4th, and I would be more than happy with a top 4 finish our first year back.

1. Villanova
2. Creighton
3. UConn
4. Providence
5. St. John's
6. Seton Hall
7. Marquette
8. Butler
9. Xavier
10. Georgetown
11. DePaul

You have to go with Villanova at the top and DePaul on the bottom. My hope is that the Blue Demons finish at least ninth but that might be tough.

The highest finish I foresee for UConn is fourth — but seventh or eighth would not necessarily surprise me. The elevated level of competition will require some adjustment. But the Huskies did improve as this past season progressed and look to be respectable in Year 1 in the BE.

I'm not checking as I type but I seem to recall Saint John's has basically everybody back. That's big for that program. And Mike Anderson now has his system in place.

Georgetown (we would think) needs Mack McClung back to avoid finishing in the "bottom third."

Xavier could be good. I emphasize the word "could" because they will be pretty young, but very talented. And Marshal leaving is a net plus, I think. As talented as he was, he was allegedly uncoachable. It made him too good to sit, but toxic as far as team play was concerned. Time will tell, but I am cautiously optimistic.

Marshall kind of seemed like he played with a big ego... Was definitely beneficial in some regards as it gave him balls of steel (see: his shot against UConn this year to tie it up late in regulation) but it definitely may have come with the drawback that he was difficult to coach.

I'm willing to bet X is decent at worst next year

In recruiting news, last night Seton Hall picked up a fringe 3/4-star junior point guard in Ryan Conway, and this morning UConn got a commitment from 4-star big Adama Sanogo.

Wooooooohoooo! Heard we were in good with Sanogo but I take recruiting news with a grain of salt, at least when it comes to us recruiting bigs. Too many times I've heard we were getting a guy just to have him spurn us.

Had been following the thread about him on the BY but hadn't checked yet today, so this is the first I've heard of the commitment. So pumped, he felt like the only piece we were missing. We'll obviously be young next year but the talent is there to compete

Big congrats to UConn and the Hall.
