Chris Parker: will he make a positive difference?

If nothing else, he should bring more of a veteran look to the team, which will really help what looks to be a primarily young squad

I’m glad Keegan McDowell is coming back.

What’s the over/under on lower division teams we schedule next season? I am saying 3.
I would much rather play the dregs of DI schools, but Coach obviously knows better than me.
And it’s always nice to throw a bone to the smaller guys, especially when we share the same mission.

I think the over/under should be 3.5 and I'll take the under because I expect 3 as well. Haven't we traditionally had 4 per season? I just really see no benefit. Scrimmage these schools if we want to play them.

The benefit is they don’t affect our Net rankings. If we replaced them with the lowest 3 D1 teams our net ranking would take a hit due to “strength of schedule”. It doesn’t make since but it’s playing the system.

Well that’s dumb... but let’s take advantage of it. We just need to make up for it by scheduling more tough games to move us up the strength of schedule ranks. As long as we’re gonna play those lower division folks, I hope we keep scheduling the schools with similar mission or that are probably gonna receive an invite to the ASUN.

RE: 2020-21 BASKETBALL SEASONS - army56mike - 04-29-2020 04:21 PM

Liberty’s OOC schedule taking shape

vs. ECU (in Charlotte) - 13 Nov

Legends Classic
@ Vanderbilt - Nov 17
@ Notre Dame - Nov 20
@ High Point
vs. Eastern Washington (@High Point)
vs. Monmouth (@ High Point)

@ Radford - 5 Dec

I see USC and UConn are in the Legends Classic also. Wish we could play UConn.

RE: 2020-21 BASKETBALL SEASONS - army56mike - 04-30-2020 12:20 PM

That’s 7 OOC road games.
We’ve got 18 conference games.
25 total scheduled so far.

I guess that leaves us with about 6-8 games left to schedule, and hopefully the majority of those will be home games.
And of course, I assume 2 of those will be against lower division schools.

So we’ve got really 4-6 games to both beef up the NET ranking and provide home games for our fans.

I might try to make the ND game. That is within driving distance for me.

I don't think we have a separate game against each of those three teams at Hight Point. I think it's a four-team tournament at High Point over a weekend, so we'll play two of those three schools.

RE: 2020-21 BASKETBALL SEASONS - army56mike - 04-30-2020 04:32 PM

Yep, looks like it. So that’ll be one more decent home game we can snag.
Both E. Washington (23-8) and Monmouth (18-13) were pretty decent teams last season. Maybe they’ll provide to help to our schedule if they repeat again this year. High Point was woefull.

RE: 2020-21 BASKETBALL SEASONS - Ewglenn - 04-30-2020 05:59 PM

It’s worth pointing out High Point will be breaking in a new 130m dollar arena

Dear Coach McKay,
If we’re gonna schedule lower level easy win games, please reach out to my alma mater Taylor University in Upland, IN. Strong Christian university with a nice basketball history and one of the greatest game traditions in the country... the “Silent Night” game.

My brother graduated from there in '18! Would be a fun matchup
