2020 Transfers... - NMSUPistolPete - 03-18-2020 04:18 PM

The first significant player in the WAC to transfer out is CBU's Ferron Flavors Jr. He was probably CBU's second best returning player (until his transfer) and he was definitely snubbed during the WAC awards.

RE: 2020 Transfers... - NMSUIndyAg - 03-18-2020 05:25 PM

Interesting....looking at the recruit list for CBU, it shows 1 guard. Obviously Milan Acquaah is going to get the most attention, but it would seem they need a second guard to take some of the heat off of him.

GO AGGIES!!!!

Big loss for them, and for the WAC too.

Exactly, I could care less about CBU but when it hurts the WAC it affects all of us. By the way nice run by your team Edinburger, Valley surprised me and did good this year. By the way I had a roommate that was from Edinburg,

We will see if any of this matters in a year

Roommate in Los Cruces? It's unusual but I can see students from here going there - not too expensive, not too much culture shock, way better scenery.

Isaiah Brown per Verbal Commits is transferring from GCU
Brandon Suggs per Verbal Commits is transferring from UMKC
Practically the entire team of CSUB is transferring. I guess they didn't want to play for "the hottest coach in college basketball" anymore.

Some kid from Utah Valley is tranferring and word is its to BYU. Another Pope poached kid.

CBU?

CSUB has lost 3 guys.

Flavors led the WAC in three point shooting at 43.9%. As a graduate transfer, I think it is a good move for him if he gets to the right team. He needs to get better defensively and his overall game needs to improve. He is a shooter and not much else. I think it bothered him that he was snubbed for WAC postseason awards, but that should be a message to him that he needs to get better in other areas.

As long as CBU has Milan Acquaah, they will be fine. The loss of Dejon Davis, Brandon Boyd and Zach Pirog is a bigger concern, especially Davis. Center Glenn Morrison is also transferring. They do get Ty Rowell back from his knee injury and he will be the logical replacement for Flavors.

RE: 2020 Transfers... - Lopes87 - 03-20-2020 03:48 PM

Amir Gholizadeh of Chicago St is now in the transfer portal.

RE: 2020 Transfers... - Lopes87 - 03-20-2020 07:16 PM

California Baptist G Jordan Gonzalez has left making it 7 transfers out the door. On top of Boyd, Pirog, Davis, with the possibility of Milan going pro.

RE: 2020 Transfers... - dancingNMSUaggie - 03-21-2020 12:11 PM

Lets even see if there is even a basketball season next year.

In the past there was talk of pushing back the start of the college basketball season to mid-December; to coincide with the end of the 1st semester. And, March Madness would then become April Madness. This virus has upset the timeline of many sports. Maybe this would be the right time to adjust the basketball season. Even the NBA is considering pushing back the start of their basketball season two months (permanently); to start the week of Christmas and finish in mid-June; a month or so before the start of football season.

RE: 2020 Transfers... - NMSUPistolPete - 03-21-2020 09:22 PM

Another big blow to the WAC. According the Verbal Commits, Utah Valley's Isaiah White is transferring. He was probably Madsen's best returning player (well until now).

RE: 2020 Transfers... - NMSUPistolPete - 03-22-2020 09:08 PM

Add UVU's Casdon Jardine to the transfer portal. Looks like Madsen will be rebuilding.

Year 2 is usually the biggest change in programs, isn't it? Doesn't seem like most coaches want to rock the boat right out of the gates. Get a season under the belt then evaluate...

RE: 2020 Transfers... - NMSUPistolPete - 03-22-2020 11:57 PM

There is a feeling out period between the new coach and the players for the previous coach. If there is too much of an adjustment (clash in styles) between both parties, either the coach cleans house or there is a mass exodus by the players; like rats jumping off a sinking ship.

On a side not, Cal Baptist has acquired Stanford Grad Transfer Isaac White, a 6'2 180-lbs, point guard out of Australia (averaged 4.2 ppg and shot over 40% from behind the arc).

RE: 2020 Transfers... - NMSUPistolPete - 03-29-2020 06:10 PM

Apparently former GCU player Isiah Brown likes purple. He had transferred from Northwestern to Grand Canyon. Now he is transferring to Weber State to finish out his basketball career.
