ODU is ranked 28th. Had no idea they were having such a good year. We need to be scheduling them again.

And yet in bracketology we are still a 12 seed and last team in the field. Gotta love the CAA and the weight it carries!

We aren't the team doing the dodging in this situation. ODU and VCU have both avoided JMU as much as possible even though we have reached out numerous times. Richmond has also stopped returning our calls after years of home and home deals.

I like being a 12 seed .. right now they have us against Princeton which is a winnable game for sure and then we only have to play the 4 v 13 winner .. 8/9 seeds are good for one game, but then you have to play sc, Baylor Oregon and UConn in the second round .. we have a legit shot at a sweet 16 if we get favorable matchups ! Time to win this caa tournament !!

Yup, a 12 seed would suit me just fine. We'll be vastly underrated (and under seeded) but still have a very legit shot to take down the 5 seed. Win that and can make the Sweet 16 by not having to face a superpower in the 2nd round.

First things first. We need to take care of business in the CAAT.

I don't know how factual this is but I've heard a rumor a few years ago that JMU wanted to do a package deal with both men's and women's games but VCU wouldn't agree to playing the JMU's MBB team which killed the Women's match ups.

Our men’s program has leprosy. No one will touch us.

ODU and GMU seem to have no issue with it.

To be honest why would VCU schedule JMU Men's basketball? They have nothing to gain, and a lot to lose. They sell out their games, so us bringing visiting fans does not help them. They lose to us, and it could cost them dearly come tournament time. If they beat us it accomplishes nothing for them.

With Mason and ODU at least we help their home attendance.

They are also not of the quality of program VCU is (or became).

I follow ODU now that Nikki McCray (former Lady Vol) is coaching them. They are on their way back although I think they will probably always be a mid-major. Just the way things are now. But yeah, they're good. Nikki is a good coach and a great recruiter, and despite the fact that Karen Barefoot took everything that wasn't nailed down and she had to really scramble to put a team together in her first year, she did well enough with them that she was able to attract some real quality recruits the next year, and so on. They're essentially tied with Rice for first place in C-USA as of Sunday. I'd love to see us play them. I don't think she'd have a problem with it. Maybe their AD does, or their men's coach.

RE: JMU women's basketball #33 in AP Poll: - Yesolitis - 03-04-2020 04:12 AM

My point about the 12 seed wasn't because I didn't like the match up / route to a potential Sweet 16; rather it is to show that despite being a top 30-35 team in the nation, the SC values JMU as the 46-50th best team in the field. The CAA label/mid major label frankly discounts the on the court proven quality of the team. That's a disservice to our women and what they have earned. But yes, the 12/11 seed is a fine place to be to create a couple "upsets" in the big dance.
