MBB Game #21 - JMU - Tribeheart - 01-23-2020 12:08 AM

Lest we forget, there is a game Thursday night.

Hope Barnes is back, and hope we get a big energy bump being back home to start four games in a row.

Protect the Kap. Go Tribe!

In honor of SoCal Frank, it's a paint game!

Time for a big bounce back game tonight. We're still undefeated at #FortressKaplan

I wonder if your coach will be the eighth straight CAA coach to say that JMU is a very talented team.
It is absolutely miserable watching Louis Rowe fail for 4 straight years and he has revived terrible memories of Dean Keener. You fanbase has to be laughing at the slow burning dumpster fire.

P.s. make sure the Precarious beer is cold. All 15 remaining JMU fans will need it tonight

I haven't done the math, but if we win all of our remaining home games we will win the regular season title. Tough task, but doable if this team is up to it.

You have brought back a funny memory.

Years ago, a certain Princeton coach beat a certain Penn coach like a drum. That rivalry turned very one-sided. That certain Princeton coach always lauded that Penn coach, hoping Penn would keep that coach forever! Too funny.

Penn wised up eventually.

Are you saying that the same thing is happening here, and that the JMU AD needs to wise up, as JMU is being taken to the cleaners by the rest of the CAA?

:-)

The day JMU fired Mickey Matthews was one of my saddest days as a Tribe fan.

Mathematically there's all sorts of ways that could work out differently. E.g. assuming (however unlikely) that the Tribe wins out at home and loses out on the road, they'd end up at 13-5 in the CAA -- several teams still could beat that, even with a loss to the Tribe at the Kap.

Practically, though, it might work.

We need to win tonight. I don't like some of the match ups on JMU. Lewis could drop 30 on us or Loewe could shut him down. Wilson is big and physical and we need to keep him off the court. Hope Nate can get him in foul trouble. If we have a good student turn out, we should be okay tonight. They don't have a lot of depth.

4 Years? That's nothing! We endured 7 years of Chuck Swenson! (JMU was really making hay at that time). I have been enjoying the last decade where we have had JMU's number -- certainly hope it continues tonight (knock on wood).

Let us not forget a very similar situation, in January of 2017, when we, by all metrics, should have lost to JMU, at the Kap, before pulling out a 73-72 win.

Let's take care of business early. Hopefully, the collective shooting eye has reopened. Every loss, at home, negates one of those valuable road wins.

RE: MBB Game #21 - JMU - billymac - 01-23-2020 07:08 PM

Well, they do take some wild shots.

RE: MBB Game #21 - JMU - tribelifer - 01-23-2020 07:13 PM

Nice 5 for 7 start. Keep it up.

RE: MBB Game #21 - JMU - billymac - 01-23-2020 07:23 PM

Well, there's another replay the CAA can use...over and over. Take that!

RE: MBB Game #21 - JMU - billymac - 01-23-2020 07:29 PM

Doing some good stuff, but wish we could stop the unforced TO's.

I just said to my wife who missed the first part of the game... “apparently their strategy is to chuck up threes whether they are defended or not”.

Watching Luke Loewe play on ball D is a thing of beauty!

Dukes haven't scored for over 4 minutes. Playing strong D tonight!

RE: MBB Game #21 - JMU - tribelifer - 01-23-2020 07:39 PM

Well, we know where the scoring from last game went. They were saving it for tonight.

RE: MBB Game #21 - JMU - billymac - 01-23-2020 07:50 PM

That last shot did not count, so Luke is still a perfect 5 for 5 on the night.
