Huge test for Temple with Houston coming to town. Can we regroup after being blown out at Tulsa? Can this game and Saturday’s home game against Tulane (who are playing good basketball) set the Owls back on track? Seems like the defensive strategy is to go zone against Temple forcing outside shots. Can McKie get the team to beat the zone? Still can’t figure out what we have this year.

This week is either Our House or the Outhouse. Could be early elimination for the Owls if they can't solve the zone.

Coogs not known for using zone defense under Sampson. But that is the same big question mark for the Coogs... streaky shooting makes it a coin toss on how we fare against the zone.

Rebound battle will probably decide this one.

HUGE 3 game home stand for the Pirates to really figure out where we are. Was the Wichita State game a fluke? We will surely see with the next 3 games:

ECU vs USF (January 7th) - Greenville, NC

ECU vs SMU (January 11th) - Greenville, NC

ECU vs Tulsa (January 15th) - Greenville, NC

If we go 2-1 in the next 3 games... I will be ecstatic, and will believe that Dooley has begun to get it figured out.

This is the 2nd serious stretch for the Shox. We did well in our non-conf test, now we take on Memphis, UConn, Temple and Houston in the next 4.

Yep, this really is the make or break stretch not only for this season but really for this entire roster rebuild. This is about as "easy" a stretch of games as you get in this league (easy is in quotes because there pretty much is no easy 3 game stretch in this league). 2-1 or even 1-2 and extremely competitive in all of them and maybe you can start to believe there's a core to build around for next year. 0-3 and you can just write off that WSU game as a complete fluke and start prepping for the next roster rebuild.

RE: ***AAC Games from 1/6/120 (Monday) though 1/12/20 (Sunday)*** - Tiger1983 - 01-07-2020 10:38 AM

Odds for 1/7/20 (Tuesday)
USF at ECU at 6 pm on ESPN3
ECU +4 points

Houston at Temple at 6pm on CBSSN
Temple +2.5 points

Rebuild, but not restart. Looks like your freshman are right there where you would want them. The two jc guards seem good and of course Gardner. So that's eight good ones to build with. Need a couple outside shooters and to find a new spot for those wings to land who aren't cutting it.

I expect next year will see a much better team as Gardner continues to be a beast and the freshmen get developed. This year Dooley burned the building down and injuries hurt early in the year. Next year he will have a strong foundation set already.

Temple fell off the table last week. They have to turn it around big or this could be a rout for Houston.

the battle of the Nates..... both hinton and pierre-louis and the 2 highest rebounding guards in the high major ..

there is a guard at st louis doing insane numbers, but this is likely be a battle of 2 of the top 3 rebounding guards in the country

The flu bug bites another Tiger: Damion Baugh. DJ Jeffries was a late scratch for the Georgia game.

Right now it's up in the air about how many of the current players need to be cut. The ones I feel confident are worth being kept are

Gardner
Robinson
Suggs
Jackson
Newton
Coleman

I don't know where you are getting 8 from, but those 6 are keepers and the other 6 of

JJ Miles
Baruti
Luster
Miles James
Logan Curtis
Debaut

are very much up in the air. If you asked me today I wouldn't keep any of those 6 around, which would mean you'd be looking at adding 7 players this off-season. Better than 11, but still not good especially when 5 of the 6 on the wrong side of the ledger are JUCO's that should have been expected to help this year.

Mills hitting shots, both teams playing tough. Fun basketball.

Early rebounding margin 18-5 Temple getting absolutely killed on the boards

ECU is much more physical than them lightweights from storrs. USF getting bodied.
