Northeastern hits 82% of their FTs. Dukes can't choke at the FT line like they did against Hofstra.

The Dukes need this one to avoid digging an early hole in CAA play during a homestand.
Of all times to play NE, this is the right time. They lost all-CAA Pusica to graduation, Occeus went Pro early, Gresham transferred to Georgia, 70% FG big man Green graduated, their starting PF Murphy has been out the last 9 games with a high ankle sprain.
They have no quality depth and will play much of the time with a very small lineup.
But Bill Coen is a good offensive coach and he could take 5 rec players and turn them into an efficient offense. They shoot lights out this year which has helped make up for their physical limitations. In addition to being #3 nationally in FT shooting, they are #7 in 3PT shooting at 40%. In fact, 4 starters shoot over 40% from 3.
We should not see a zone tonight from Rowe unless the team is point shaving.
Hopefully The Dukes take advantage of their size and dominate post scoring and the boards. It would also be nice to see a press the whole game in efforts to shorten the shot clock so NE can’t repeatedly carve up the Dukes defense in half court sets where they thrive.
Vegas has 7-6 NE as a 2.5 pt road favorite, but the Dukes need this one more.

Not the start this team needed, but the game isn’t over. The Dukes have only taken 7 3’s which is a big departure from their season long tendency. But somehow they haven’t taken advantage of 2 pt shots in the paint where they have a distinct size advantage at almost every position. Those shots certainly have to fall at a better rate in the second half and Wilson should be getting easy buckets at will.
On the other end, The defense is a mess with NE passing easily around the Dukes for open looks. The two small guards have 36 of their 42 points.
CAA basketball...it’s pretty good!

Much better start to the 2nd half. The Dukes first 6 possessions resulted in 6 baskets at the rim. We have a ballgame.

Not like it matters at this point , but Parker has not been out the entire second half (unless I missed it ). If it mattered , we would need a fresh point guard to finish the game .

Someone I trust told me to keep an eye on Harvey this year . I saw Dobbs in the scrimmage and he looked like he had pretty good court awareness and was ready to contribute . Richey looked like he should beef up some but had a good stroke and might provide some instant offense . Not saying these guys should start , but if we have more atheletic depth than our opponents ......use it .
If a player isn’t hustling or getting beat on defense , bench them for a few minutes . Immediately .

That talent is as good an any in the CAA in my opinion.
