Plenty of articles out there documenting the student protest of the Colonials nickname.
So what do they call them? Generals, Revolutionaries, Hippos, Senators.....Thinkers?!?

Either they are uneducated idiots and protesting colonialism, not understanding the Colonials reference,
Or they hate America and are protesting our history. In that case, why don't they just name them the Slavers.

If they want to change the name then sure. Don't care. UMass changed ours back in the 70s and we ended up with a much better one.
Revolutionaries? That would be the only reasonable one from the bunch. They should go with something that allows the student section and whatnot to be called the Continental Army though, since that was the name of the forces Washington commanded.

South Carolina actually played them yesterday and I was texting a buddy about this. Why are they even called Colonials? Patriots or Generals makes a lot more sense.

I guess the SJWs aren't the only ones without knowledge of history.
The army lead by George Washington was called the "Colonial Army." The Americans were colonists and were called "Colonials."
So opposing that name is opposing American history.

I think UMass's name change is the exception, not the rule.
The only two that I have personal knowledge of have been abysmal failures:
Changing from Miami Redskins to Miami Redhawks lost a lot of alumni interest.
Case Rough Riders combined with Western Reserve Redcats to become the Case Western Reserve Spartans. Big yawn. Talk about a missed opportunity.
