Bowls — who goes where? - GaSoEagle - 11-30-2019 12:34 PM

If we assume Louisiana wins later today that leaves 5 Belt teams for 5 bowls. Here is my guess on who goes where

NO— winner of App/Louisiana champ game
Cure— Ark St
Montgomery— Ga Southern
Mobile— loser of champ game (esp if that is Louisiana)
Arizona— Ga St

Of course I want App to win and go to NO ... in understanding that UL is tough, I would much rather App goes to Cure if they happen to lose.

At least that's what my wife wishes. And considering we haven't been there yet, wouldn't mind that road trip.

Seems right. Winner of GSU battle to Montgomery, probably GS.

Cure Bowl will more than likely be SBC vs Liberty.

No thanks

I say winner of title game to NOLA, loser to Mobile.

Winner of GS/GSU to Montgomery.

If GS loses I would expect Eagles to Cure with Red Wolves in Arizona but if GSU loses, AState to Cure and the Panthers to Tucson.

The question that arises is whether the league would bless the bowls working out so that AState goes to money pit Arizona in consecutive years.

Any guesses as to who the likely opponent will be in the New Orleans Bowl.?

I would hope not ... I haven’t seen this scenario yet but I’m with you and don’t want that

Whoever wins the title game must go to NOLA unless App goes Access

Liberty is eligible and has a backup to Orlando if AAC shorts it, which they’ll likely do

I had been seeing Sun Belt teams popping up on the Frisco Bowl. I know we don't have a tie in, but any possibity some of the bowl cards get shuffled?

Extremely unlikely unless ULM wins tonight

A lot of well-connected GS people are thinking that the Eagles are probably going to Orlando.

RE: Bowls — who goes where? - arkstfan - 12-01-2019 12:14 AM

I'm pretty sure this year's selection order is NOLA, Mobile, Montgomery, Orlando, Tucson.

Montgomery likely has three 7-5's to choose from. My guess is they take Georgia State, Georgia Southern to Cure, Red Wolves repeat in Arizona.

GAST travels the worst they should get shipped out to Arizona as the last pick; much like USA did a few years back.

I’m hearing a strong chance that GS will land in the Camellia Bowl again

I wouldn't mind that. Just saying that I've heard different... Not that they were 100 percent sure or anything.

Something is inherently wrong with the way bowl game matchups are done. A conference champion should face another conference champion in its bowl game.

RE: Bowls — who goes where? - BirdofParadise - 12-01-2019 10:58 AM

The only thing sure is New Orleans gets the champion.

There is no such thing as some other bowl gets second choice. A school can certainly decline the invitation of bowl #2 if they like bowl #3 better (and bowl #3 wants them.)

Here's my prediction:

Champ to NO.
Mobile (if App wins): Georgia Southern
Montgomery (if App wins) Louisiana
Orlando: Georgia State
Arizona: Arkansas State

I’m going to have to check the rules on this, but isn’t mobile no longer obligated to take a Sun Belt team if their first choice says no?

That has more to do with how opposite the SBC/CUSA bowl rules are. W
Our champion must go to NOLA by contract. You guys allow your champ to go wherever, creating situations where they could choose to play the 5th best AAC team because they like the location better

Plus unlike you guys we only have 1 bowl under ESPN ownership, making it really hard for them to control matchups like they want
