Early Week 14 Polls Discussion - sfink16 - 11-29-2019 08:03 PM

Where do Memphis and Cincy wind up in Week 14 polls? Memphis should easily pass Iowa. Do they potentially pass anyone else, Auburn perhaps if they loss to 'Bama? I see Cincy staying in the top 25, either dropping slightly or not at all.

I'll predict Memphis jumps to 15th and Cincy drops to 21st. This would give Cincy the probability to re-jump Boise, if they beat Memphis, and deservedly send a 2 loss AAC team to the NY6 bowl. Obviously a Memphis win is a no-brainer.

I just hope cinci doesn’t drop totally out of the polls.

I think the OP is right on the UC placement... 21 or 22 sounds about right.

No way UC drops all the way out. Especially not with #24 VaTech losing.

Cincinnati is a 2 loss G5 team with their loss coming now. I’ll be stunned if they are in the top 25 next week.

UVA will replace VT.

Ok State will lose to OU so they will drop out.

I could see a 9-2 Navy or 10-2 SMU (assuming a win for both) enter in place of Cincy. Again, just given the timing. But they’d probably enter at 24-25 at best.

31. Houston
38. Memphis
47. Cincinnati
53. Wichita State
54. Connecticut

- the truth, according to Dr Kenneth Pomeroy

In 2018 Boise was 22nd in last week 13 poll with 2 losses and lost. The 3 loss Boise dropped down to 25th in the final CFP poll. Two loss Fresno jumped to 21st from 25th after beating Boise. It would seem that 2 loss and 18th ranked Cincy should fare better than 3 loss Boise at the very least.

A road loss to a hire ranked team in a competitive game shouldn't be a ranking killer. Let's hope the committee dies it's job. If UC stays in the 20-23 range the access bowl bid could still be in play.

I don’t know the context of that situation but I’ll take your word for it. Obviously a lot of it depends on the number of 3 & 4 loss P5 teams. The more there are at this point in the season, the worse it is for the rest of us.

Can’t wait to see 7-5 Texas get back in after their big win over 4-8 Texas Tech. Texas is back, remember?

The real question is will UCF once again be receiving votes after that BEAT DOWN of USF tonight in Orlando?

I watched the end of that one. I'll admit it didn't bother me that VA Tech lost, for a few reasons: drop out of the top 25, Virginia won their division for the first time, did on former Metro member.

But I wonder if the voters will put Virginia in the T25.

An argument could be made that a two-loss Cincinnati team should get in a head of a one loss Boise team. That said, I don't see the politics allowing that to happen. I really think Memphis has to win for the conference to get the Cotton Bowl bid.

Interesting that 2 loss Cincinnati stays one ahead of Boise in the Real Time RPI rankings. Probably because of the relative strength of schedules - Cincinnati is in the 50s Boise is 112.

With the Mountain West championship game already set with Hawaii and Boise State .... It helps Cincinnati's case if Hawaii loses to Army today.

We might be able to squeak in at #25 with a dominant bowl win (and positive bowl games from our opponents), but the disaster at Tulsa has probably doomed us.

Seems like Navy (9-2 with Army next) and SMU (10-2) need to be in the Top 25 conversation.

Navy started the day #24 in the AP and Coaches' polls.
In the CFP, #24,23,21 all lost.
