Playoff Ticket Sales - jmu98 - 11-27-2019 12:46 PM

Received my tickets last night so I thought I would take a look at how Sales looked after they fulfilled all of the pre-orders and so far it looks like it will be a light crowd. Long time until gameday, but would have liked to see more tickets sold.

RE: Playoff Ticket Sales - Deez Nuts - 11-27-2019 12:51 PM

Who was it that laughed at my guess of 12K attendance?

In the crowd's defense, they only had 2 days to get their orders in to keep seats. I think a good many more will sell. I also think more people are thinking about their turkey and travel than they are about Saturday December 7th at this point.

I too looked at the seat map for the priority seats, but I think I felt like the amount sold felt right for having 53 hours to purchase and retain season ticket seats.

Yeah, I don’t care about playoff attendance at all. I will say (as an FBS proponent) that the argument of “the playoffs bring quality competition to the schedule” rings hollow when we play teams like Colgate/Holy Cross/Monmouth as our “playoff treat”.

Got my tickets and will be at BFS on Dec 7 ROOTIN!!

Especially when we can't even beat said teams in the playoffs.

The deadline caught me a little off guard yesterday. I felt like we had more time in previous years when we had the 1st round bye. I went back and looked and in 2017 the deadline was the Sunday after Thanksgiving, so indeed it was five days earlier this year. I wonder if some people forgot and will be irritated they didn't get their normal seats. On the other hand, looking at the seating chart I wonder now if I should have waited as there are better seats that are still available.

RE: Playoff Ticket Sales - HyperDuke - 11-27-2019 01:26 PM

We definitely can with quality coaching. Losing twice to Colgate with bad coaching/leadership doesn’t negate my POV.

RE: Playoff Ticket Sales - PurpleStreamers - 11-27-2019 01:36 PM

The quick turnaround definitely felt different than 16-17. Not expecting a huge crowd for HC/MU game but I do think they'll sell just fine next week if the weather doesn't look horrible. Anecdotal as always but we've got an extra 5-10 extended folks in our own group who didn't want to commit at the presale (before they've even thought about T'giving) but are planning to be there with kids if the weather's decent. When we've played in the first round, it always hurts even worse that students are home for T'giving, but given that they've been solid this year (at least in the second quarter ha), that should help a lot next week too.

Round of 24 and 2nd round/round of 16 sometimes true. Shouldn’t be for the quarters or semis though..

Yeah, got mine ordered last minute yesterday late afternoon, but I thought the deadline for playoff games was the Tues before the game..

Guys you can sit wherever you want outside of the club. Just buy any ticket and sit anywhere you want.

I agree but it deserves mentioning that even the FCS playoffs won’t always get great opponents on our schedule.

RE: Playoff Ticket Sales - hburg - 11-27-2019 02:42 PM

We purposefully waited until after the deadline so we can sit anywhere and able to bring in more people than our allotted location.

RE: Playoff Ticket Sales - Deez Nuts - 11-27-2019 02:58 PM

The people that will show up will be the die hards. It'll sound like an extra 4K people because the ones coming will know how this works.

That's not 100%. We've played SHSU and SDSU in the past in our QF and SF games. Both were pure garbage and wouldn't have been more than a .500 CAA team. Weber was actually good though.

RE: Playoff Ticket Sales - JMad03 - 11-27-2019 03:41 PM

I will definitely be there Dec 7 and plan to leave without a voice. I know attendance will be pretty low but I hope it'll improve as the playoffs progress (even though it probably won't).
I'm just looking forward to supporting the Dukes. I LOVE playoff football and plan to have a great time. All we can do is try to encourage others to do the same.

RE: Playoff Ticket Sales - 14SemesterDuke - 11-27-2019 03:47 PM

Got my ticket. 2nd round playoff attendance is always weak, I am expecting it to be better than the Delaware game last year however.

RE: Playoff Ticket Sales - Potomac - 11-27-2019 04:03 PM

All time JMU Home Attendance in the new Bridgeforth Era:

2014 - Liberty (1st Rd, Thanksgiving Weekend) - 13,040
2015 - Colgate (2nd Rd, 1st Dec Weekend) - 15,045
2016 - New Hampshire (2nd Rd, 1st Dec Weekend) - 13,231
Sam Houston State (Qtr Final, 2nd December Weekend. Friday Game) - 15,646
2017 - Stony Brook (2nd Rd, 1st December Weekend) - 16,449
Weber State (Qtr Final, 2nd December Weekend. Friday Game) - 13,490
South Dakota State (Semi Final, 3rd December Weekend) - 16,528
2018 - Delaware (1st Rd, Thanksgiving Weekend) - 7,297

The 2017 2nd round game against Stony Brook is our record for highest attended game that weekend. 16,449.

That appears to be our ceiling for attendance until we prove otherwise.

Really, it's reserved seating, sit in the seats you purchased.

I got a little bit of an up grade from my normal seats. A little higher but closer to the 50. Talking with someone in the ticket office it sounds like the lower sections between the 10's are selling well Lots of unsold club seats.

I hear you. But unless you’ve never been to Bridgeforth in the playoffs, you know that some great seats are left empty in large patches. Do people frequently sit in your seats or something?
