Tough test ahead for the Lopes on Wednesday. San Diego State beat BYU by 5 on Saturday. Unfortunately this one isn’t going to be televised.
Opening thoughts: I don’t think Canyon is going to pull out the win. SDSU probably has some height that will frustrate them. Likely very similar scenario to what happened Friday night against Illinois. That being said we beat the Aztecs the last two times we played... but this team isn’t in as good a shape as the last two.

They are undersized due to missing their key rebounder for 9 games (Yoeli Childs). They got out-rebounded by 16 in the game. Also it was interesting to see that Jake Toolson (formerly of UVU) was the leading scorer for BYU with 18 points.

If GCU can play like they did against Illinois then they may have a chance. If they play like they did against Davenport then we will lose by 20+.

Last Vegas line shows the Aztecs as 12 point favorites. We didn’t beat the spread in the lady matchup. I hope this game stays close and the Lopes give themselves an opportunity to win at the end.

26-16 Aztecs at the 10:00 Mark in the first half. GCU has been making most of their shots. Actually their most impressive shooting game all season. However, they have zero answers for the big men San Diego state keeps feeding. The Aztecs also have a deeper rotation and they maintain a very fast pace.
Lopes look gassed. Can hardly blame them.

Okay. Yeah. It’s falling apart. Lever is afraid to take a foul so he doesn’t play defense. Carlos thinks he can sink threes. He can’t.
The lack of bench is bad not only for fatigue factor but also to shake the lineup a bit to find some chemistry. Right now, it’s pretty much what you see is what you get. When JJ Rhymes checks in, he’s not really much of a catalyst.
1:25 left in the half. Carlos just got a charge and now he’s gonna sit.
